Hi,

Our first weather app, Weather Gods has been released on the iTunes App Store:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/weather-gods/id1041512978?mt=8

We charge for the app as we have to pay for the data services we use, but hope people will find it is worth the price.

Many, many thanks go to the members on this site who helped make it into a great accessible weather app.

This is the start of the journey for us and we hope to bring many more features to the app in the coming months.

Hi Donavin,

Keep feeding back, asking questions and suggesting ideas :)

I'm not sure what level of radar data we will get, if we can get the source data, then something like you suggest could be possible. However, if we just get the imagery (which is the usual), then we'd have to do some clever image processing to work out intensity, direction and velocity - possible, but would be a challenge.

I'm planning on adding severe weather alerts in the near term and use our Olympus weather cloud to pull the data from the national weather providers based on saved/GPS locations. That will at least give some warning of impending storms.

Lots to still to do!
Regards
Scott

Hi. This sounds like a really cool app. I'm thinking about buying it. I was wondering if it could just get sunset notifications instead of have to getting them both. Or can yiu get sunrise/sunset notifications at all?

Hi Cool Cat,

You can pick whether to get sunrise or sunset or choose them both.

Thanks for responding. I downloaded the app 3 or 4 days ago and I'm glad I purchased it. I do have a question. Is it possible to get as it happens notifications in a time range? Because I don't want to get notifications in the middle of the night. For example maybe being able to get as it happens notifications between your morning and night schedules.

That's a good idea, we don't currently offer that feature, but I will add it to our list - like it :)

Hi. I noticed for the last4,5 or 6 days I have not been getting the summary notifications. I have been getting my sunset notifications though. Those are the only 2 notifications I have going.

Hi Cool Cat,
Sorry to hear about the notifications. I checked the server and everything seems okay.

However, if you can send me a feedback email please then I can dig a bit deeper and trace your notifications through the system.

Thanks
Scott

O.k, I checked my notification center and it said the summary came yesterday. . However, I don't think I got one today. I'll wait until the morning and give you a update then.

Got my summary this morning. Everything is well in cool cat land.

Thanks Cool Cat - good to know :)

If you (or anyone) finds they don't turn up then send me an email straightaway and I can do some diagnostics.

Hi Scott,

I'm enjoying the app and using it regularly. I have a suggestion for an additional feature: the ability to go to any date, and see the sunrise/sunset times and moon phase for that date. If anyone would be interested in seeing weather data from the past, and if your sources maintain that data, this could be an easy way to access it. The way I'm imagining this is that the user would press a "time machine" button and then enter a date. If the date is too far ahead for a weather forecast, or further back in time than you have full weather data for, it would just show sunrise/sunset and the moon god. If that would take a lot of work to implement, perhaps it could be an in app purchase.

Thanks for a great app, and for continuing to engage with us on AppleVis.

The Hound personal assistant provides historical sunset and sunrise data. Just ask when was the sunset or sunrise for a specific date. Hound will then speak the answer. I don’t believe Hound is available in the UK though. This feature would be superfluous to Weather gods and make the app more complicated to use.

Hi Lysette,

We have on the list of potential future features an almanac which would cover off the sunrise, sunset and moon phases in the future, tide times, seasons, planting calendar etc

However, this would be an in-app purchase / subscription feature due to the additional data costs.

Kelly, Hound seems like a pretty good app!

If you want to find the sunrise and sunset times for any date in the future or past or the current date at your location try Sunrise Sunset Pro available from:

Sunrise Sunset Pro by Kekoa Vincent

It works with IOS11.
