Hi:
I am planning to upgrade from my 128GB Iphone 6 to either an Iphone 7/7plus or 8/8plus. I would welcome anyone's opinion on which phone to get. I would like to know the advantages/disavantages of both phones. Thanks in advance.

The iPhone 8 is pretty comparable to the iPhone 7, except it has wireless charging and a slightly better processor. However if you use a case wireless charging will not work. If you don't care about wireless charging, don't need the latest and greatest, and want to save a little cash, I would go for the 7.

I would recommend upgrading to the 8/8 plus, or heck... go for the iPhone X if you can afford it. Remember, that apple has done away with 128GB storage, so if you are getting the 8 or the X, then I'd say get the max, 256GB iPhone. More storage is better in my strong opinion. As apps get larger and things expand, your best bet is to get the max storage you can afford.

I'm also trying to decide between the 7 and 8. I have a 6 Plus now so know either will be noticeably faster. I've always just had 13 gig storage and always have to delete things to download more, so either will be quite a nice storage jump for me. I was almost set on a 7 because of the price difference between that and an 8, but I really like the idea of wireless charging because my charger ports seem to get janky on my phones before anything else. But I'm not sure if the extra $150 is really worth it... I'm hoping perhaps once it comes out there'll be a podcast comparing and contrasting the 7 with the 8 to help me decide. :)

I just upgraded from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 8, 64 GB model. My iPhone 6 was also a 64 GB phone and I was only using about half that, so I saw no need for the 256 GB model. Go to Settings>General>Storage and check how much you are using on your current phone. If you're using significantly less than 64 GB, you'll not likely need the larger storage size.

Personally, I recommend upgrading to the 8 if that's an option for you. If I'd upgraded to the 7, I'd have felt that I was already behind in technology after spending all that money. Also, check with your cell provider. I think both Verizon and T-Mobile are offering $300 towards an upgrade with a trade-in to an iPhone 8. That's what I did to get my iPhone 8.

As far as choices go, 8 or 8+ would be the 2 I'd look at. Simply because you can stay current and up-to-date with the technological advances, unless the price difference is soooo much that a 7/7+ would be more tempting.

Moreover, if next year you would want to sell your phone to get a newer 1, by having a 2 year old model, value will be less than if you had the previous year's model, so it can help leverage things out.

But at the end of the day, the choice is yours, weigh the options, cost etc. but if you were going to buy new, and the price wasn't much different, might as well go with the newer model IMO.

In either case, the jump from a 6 should be noticeable, since I found the 7 to be snappier and the stereo speakers to be a nice try at improving the sound quality. You'll also be introduced to haptic and 3d touch, as well as the new digital (not mechanical) home button, and hopefully a nicer overall iPhone experience. Don't forget, that with either models *7 and 8 and pluses), you lose the headphone jack. There's an adapter to still connect using the lightning port, however that means no charging and listening to headphones or external speakers using the same port at the same time. :) But the iPhone 8/8+ should remedy this problem with wireless charging.
