A few years ago, I was able to add Web sites to the Mac task bar, but not in Sierra. I want to add an alias for a Web site on the Mac desktop, or else in the task bar. Has anyone done this in Sierra? I've tried selecting the url in the Safari address bar and dragging it to an empty place on the desktop using vo+shift+command+space but no luck. As I recall, an older version of Safari had a Web site icon to the left of the url in the address bar, and dragging that, even with the VO+period key, worked to add it to the task bar. But not anymore. I have sites for work that I visit all the time and it's slow getting to them on the bookmarks list.

Re alias
Hello Voracious P. Brain,
Not exactly the same as an alias, but have you tried saving the web page in Safari as a web archive? Open the page, choose File menu and then choose Save as. I have several of these on my desktop. They are not the same as an alias, but work well enough for a launching point if using Safari.
If you have a different default browser, you could copy/paste urls into a textedit file on your desktop. At least you'd have just one place from which to launch.
Best regards.
Thanks but I got it to work.
Thanks but I got it to work. Since routing the mouse to the VO cursor moves the mouse to the exact center of the object, dragging/dropping is made very difficult. But a little luck with a finger on the trackpad accomplished it. Too bad Apple doesn't make this easier.
