Introducing PocketBrew, a new iOS app for beer lovers; and we want your accessibility feedback

We've just released an app we have been working on, and are now looking at adding support for accessibility.

I'm looking for some people to help me test the accessibility features as I work thru adding them, and to highlight other areas that are specific problems.

Thanks!

Darren,
I'd be willing to test the app for its accessibility with VoiceOver and make recommendations on areas of improvement. Is there a way I can contact you directly so we can discuss this further. Is there an email address you would like to post, or a way that I can find your email to contact you directly?

I'm happy to take a peek as well.

This looks like a great app, but it looks like it's going to require a little accessibility work to label some oddly labeled elements and some completely unlabeled buttons. I happened to notice an icon on there labeled as Icon header filter. double-tapping on that disables the filter so you can see everything available, or at least that's how I understand it. There were a few ratings for different places, followed by a couple elements that said unfiltered sculpin, and another one labeled thebigbrewbowski. I'm not quite sure what these elements do. The idea is to choose labels that are going to make sense to a VoiceOver user the very first time they open the app. It looks like a pretty cool app, and i'll watch for more accessibility improovements for sure!

?As a huge fan of real ales, I was delighted to find news on your app! I am completely blind and rely 100% on Voiceover on my iPhone. I have downloaded your app and set up my account, my user ID is tytroy180 so feel free to contact me with regards feedback on your app. If you are a Apple user yourself, you can get a good idea what the accessibility is like by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > Voiceover and turning Voiceover on. Activate your app and try navigating it. There's nothing quite like experiencing it yourself, but remember to keep your eyes tightly closed or wear a blindfold (or better still do a 3 finger triple tap to put the screen curtain on) so you are having the same experience as us blind users. I absolutely love the idea of your app, but there are quite a number of access issues at the moment, but as things improve, I know I'll be using the app more and more for sure! PS doing a 3 finger triple tap toggles the screen curtain on and off so don't panic about not being able to get your screen back again! :-)

Just to confirm, I am just starting to address accessibility and will be working to get it all added in over the next couple of months. It's fairly high priority for myself....

Anyone that wants to help test the accessibility, just send me an email (me@darrenehlers.com) and I'll add you to our TestFlight Beta group...

I really appreciate the help and I hope I can help move forward recognition of the importance of accessibility in apps...

Thanks!
