IOS 9.3: How do I get out of the Hello Screen?

That screen is a bit tricky for some reason. But if you swipe left to right with 3 fingers (the same gesture works to unlock the device later as well) you can get in.

Or instead of doing that you could even just double tap. Double tap meaning double tap on the slide to setup element.

thanks didn't know about the 3 finger gesture, I was always flicking over the screen till it said slide to setup in English, then double tapping and holding with one finger and quickly sliding, but this sounds a much easier way of doing things, apple needs to look at redesigning that screen.

You can also toggle off VO and swipe right near the bottom of the screen.

Hi. when you hear, slide to set up, just do a single-finger double-tap on that element and that'll do it. You may have to swipe right to land on the slide to set up element once the phone comes on, but after you've double-tapped on slide to set up, just follow the prompts and you're off to the races.

I've had this problem in the past. I just double tap and the screen unlocks. I don't know why it's in a different language, though.

when I updated to ios 9.3 on ipod touch and the "hello" screen came up I touched the bottom of screen and when I heard voice over say, "slide to set up" in English I immediately double tapped and it allowed me to unlock screen and it spoke in English:)

I agree, apple needs to do some fine tuning to that screen. I may send an email to their accessibility team but luckily we don't have to do it only with a major update.

Try force reboot your iPhone: Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button simultaneously > Let go when the Apple logo appears and the iPhone is booting up.

Restore your iPhone to factory settings: Download the latest iTunes and plug your iPhone into computer > Hold power & home button until the iTunes symbol appears > Click Restore iPhone > After this, select "Set up as a new iPhone" to start fresh with factory settings.

Nothing about the screen is bad in my opinion, it just takes a matter of time to learn, like I did. And why is it in all those languages? Because let's say a French person took your iPad from you because you didn't want it. If he or she didn't know English, they would not recognize slide to setup, instead they would recognize the usual slide to setup in French.

I think its in all those languages because if you select a different one that isn't english it then switches to the language you select, I have had that happen once or twice when I chose the wrong option. the screen does need looking at, the text slide to setup isn't very helpful from a VoiceOver point of view, and its annoying flicking round the screen hoping your going to find the language you want, why they can't just have a standard picker for languages I don't know, I guess it probably looks nice visually or something.

I had the same problem with the Hello Screen. Double tapping worked to get to the setup area. But I couldn't remember my Apple ID. I later recalled it was my home email address. And finally got my phone back to normal.

The hello screen is great the way it is. Not everyone speaks English by default and it's comforting to them that their device greets them in their own language. To take it one step further. Lets say you're on vacation in another country and lose your device. You can pick up an IOS device locally and instead of greeting you in Chinese, German or whatever, it also greets you in English. Not only that, but if you're blind, it will also talk to you in your preferred language. It's a little more work but it's not hard.

Personally, I think it's awesome and wouldn't want Apple to make any changes.

My thought exactly. The hell page / is a design function and should not reduce it's use to a troubleshooting! Actually it should be offered as a sleep mode function so users may utilize and enjoy it...especially with the ipad.

Does anyone out there in the apple world have a method if users care to use the Hello Hola etc page. Simply after iPad set up .........honestly it's gone WHY?

Have tried all the suggestions, including a complete reset to factory settings and still can't get past that accursed Hello Screen.

Hi. getting past the hello screen, at least in iOS 10 is a bit easier than in previous releases, in iOS 9 it was a bit tougher. do the following. 1. press the sleep wake button, and your phone should say hello. 2. Next, take a single finger and swipe to the right on the screen, and you *should* hear Voiceover say, "slide to setup. As soon as you hear that, do a single-finger double-tap and that will get you into the setup screens where you can set your phone up after an update if its required. You'll need to be fast when you do this because in a few seconds, the iPhone's language on the hello screen will change to something else. So you'll have to be kind of quick when doing this. That really is the best advice I can give as to how to get past the hello screen.
