Accessibility Comments

The accessibility of this app has grown leaps and bounds. It used to be just ok, but recently they've added in lots of functionality, and everything is nicely labeled. My only real complaint is that you can't watch streams in the background, so if you go to write a message to someone in another app, etc, you'll lose the stream and have to reopen the app. Even the chat works great!

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

I'm impressed how far this app has come.

Hi,
When I watch a stream I can see the chat text field, but when I swipe to the left from there VO doesn't tell me the message and the person's name, it just makes a clicking noise. In the right hand corner I see a button that's labled bits. What's that for?

I was thinking of adding this app to the directory but I guess I don't have to. Anyway, the current iteration of the UI is just about usable with VoiceOver where you can just about start up a stream, see who's live and adjust some settings. But there's a lot of unlabeled buttons. For the really bad parts, the chat messages are almost completely invisible to VoiceOver and only show up as clicks. The video player is completely invisible, so if the controls disappear the only way to bring them back is to turn VoiceOver off, tap roughly in the top center, turn it back on and hope you can get to what you need before it vanishes again. Finally, search is almost unusable as well because the search results appear as unlabeled buttons.

I hope that'll be fixed in the next update.

Hi all,
I'm an iOS developer at Twitch and we recently shipped some improvements to the app including Dynamic Type, and better VoiceOver support. It's an ongoing process to improve the accessibility of our app, but wanted to reach out here to get some insights of the biggest pain points.

Thanks. I suggest theeplay controls could be easier to get to if I start playing a stream. Right now I have to kind of double tap somewhare to show them then find the pause button which for me is not that possible especially if the stuff I'm listenign to is loud ish.

I'm a twitch streamer so love the fact I can now watch the chat from my phone and respond there when needed. Wish clipping were more doable especially with our vods we produce, but one day.

I had no trouble with that, I just completed. It fine, don't ask me how as this was a few months ago, but yeah the experience was quite nice. I really love the way twitch are, wish we can one day do highlights on the go of our streams in case we are out and want to make the highlights instead of being at the pC. Also for the mods who are on our streams, wish there was a way they can ban users etc from the phone and delete messages etc.
