I've only had my Mac for about a month, so I'm relatively new at this. I'm trying to install Capti Narrator. The download file is a .pkg file. Everytime I try to open it, the Mac thinks it's a plain text file and opens it in Text Edit. I've tried the "Open With" option, but I can't figure out where the installer is fore it to open that way. The team at Capti suggested I re-download the program by right-clicking on it and using Save As. I did that, and nothing changed; it still sees it as a text file that wants to open in Text Edit. Any suggestions?

Installer
One thing you can try is to open the .pkg file directly in the Installer app.
1. In the Finder, choose go> go to folder or press Command Shift G.
2. Type the following path without quotes or punctuation, "/system/library/coreservices."
3. In the folder that opens after pressing return, open the Installer app. You should then be presented with an open dialog. Choose downloads from the popup button or press Command Shift L, and locate the file you downloaded. If it is a proper .pkg file, it should open.

Thanks!
I really appreciate your taking the time to reply. I finally got it figured out, and a huge part of it was me not being familiar with the Mac. The file had a .txt extention after the .pkg one. I didn't realize it right away, but upon figuring that out and renaming the file to remove that extension, it installed the normal way. At least I did learn how to get to the Installer though, so thank you for that!!
