My on-screen keyboard disappears using iPhone 7 and IOS 10

The only way I can get my keyboard to appear again is ifI use my refreshabraille and execute the "keyboard visible" command, which is dots 1 4 6 cord. Is there a gesture to do this on the phone itself? I have not been able to figure out what causes my keyboard to disappear, and it seems quite random. Even when I stop using my Braille display, I will make sure the keyboard is visible, but it still disappears after some time using my phone exclusively. I do not always have my Braille display to make my keyboard visible, so is there a way to force this from the phone? Thank you.

Hello,

Not sure if you already tried this but it’s the first step.

When in a text field, do you perform a single finger double tap? That should put you in edit mode.

IF that does not work, turn off BT and try again.

HTH and good luck.

I am so glad finally someone else has this issue. I have had it also when using the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and then turning it off. A call to Apple accessibility did nothing. I ended up resetting my iPhone and I just won't connect a keyboard I guess. It sucks.

I also got this bug yesterday. Really annoying! Only way to get it back is as the OP said, connecting my braille display and showing the virtual keyboard from there. It stays visible for a while, but then disappears again. I've tried turning BT off and on, rebooting my phone, and unpairing and repairing my Focus. Thank goodness for braille screen input, since it's the only way I can type right now.

I wonder if twiddling that voiceover setting might help.
I remember some settings that were backwards in the past.

Nope, that doesn't have any affect. I'm still trying to figure out what happens that makes the on screen keyboard disappear after I bring it back by reconnecting my braille display. Lots of googling hasn't yielded any useful solutions either. Sigh.
