Going to Europe for 8 days: What Can I Do For Cellular Connectivity?

Hi all.
So I'll be in the Netherlands and Denmark for part of the fall. I have an iPhone 6S which is not locked. Does anyone know of a carrior that works in both countries and if I could get a one off plan from them? I'd need to have them mail me the NanoSim, of course, which is fine, but I'd rather not be off the cellular grid while I'm there if I can help it.

Thanks for any help!
Scott

Hi Scott. If I were you I'd first check out what roaming options you have with your US network, some of them have good add-ons you can purchase for travelling.
Failing that, you could pick up a prepay SIM very easily when you arrive.

I agree with Dave82, see what roaming options you already have. In recent years as I've travelled I have ffound that I need cellular data less and less. If you are staying in an hotel it will probably have wifi, the trains in those countries have wifi and there are plenty of hotpots. all in all, I've used very little roaming data on my last few trips abroad.

Hello Scott!

I've got a few options for you! First, go to your carrier and see what data plans they can offer you for abroad. FYI.: T-Mobile has better options, but all other carriers are starting offer better options thanks to T-Mobile.

Also, you could get a Mi-Fi card. You can easily rent one and hook your phone up to it and pay as you go. Just make sure to get a second battery when you get the card!

Also, I'd highly recommend you check this, because this'll give you a more up-to-date list of what your options are, and it's because it's updated because it's a Wiki. If you just type into Google Prepaid with data Wiki
the URL. you'll want to look at will come up. And it's broken-down by country. So you can look at what your options are for Denmark and Netherlands.

You could also go to the countries and buy a sim card from a carrier, but bare in mind you'll have a Denmark or Netherland phone number, and you'll need to port your number over and do other things with your carrier, but it's doable. And in most cases Scott, it'll be cheaper on you in the long-run.

Hope this helps, and wishing you safe travels Scott!!

The good news for you Scott, is that the phone is already unlocked. If not, you'd need to go to your carrier and have them unlock it for you. And usually, if you're in good standing or you've paid the phone off, they'll unlock it for you.

If you're with Verizon Wireless, they have to keep the SIM slot on their phones unlocked, because they got into some legal trouble with the FCC., and as a result, they signed a consent decree. And part of that decree, says that, they need to keep their SIM slots unlocked. Hope this helps.

Hello Scott, I am a proud T-Mobile customer. And luckily for you, the Netherlands and Denmark are covered with T-Mobile. So I wouldn't worry about getting out Sam whenever you get over there, I would just take your unlocked phone leave it as is that way your family and other people that may need to get a hold of you can still get a hold of you in need not be a charge to them. T-Mobile says use your phone like you are at home. There will not be any extra charges. So I will just do that if I were you. I pay hundred and 50 bucks a month by myself for their service. However, I just updated a little bit because I added my girlfriend. So now I'm paying dollar 180 for two phones. And it works great for both of us. So definitely check it out if you can.
