It is also possible to mark articles as read automatically when scrolling by then in the article list.

Accessibility Comments

I thought that I had found and tested every RSS reader of note, so I was very pleasantly surprised to stumble upon another one; one which not only has a really good featureset , but also explicitly mentions VoiceOver support in its description.

And the VoiceOver support is really good. The only minor niggle so far is that VoiceOver focus doesn't always play nicely with popup menus. For example, if you activate the Share menu via the VoiceOver Actions menu, , you need to locate it by touch to get VoiceOver to realise that it's there. If you instead swipe on the screen after triggering the share menu, VoiceOver will not locate the menu; instead acting as if nothing has changed on the screen. Similar behavior can also be found in some areas of the app's settings pages, where VoiceOver focus doesn't always reflect changes to what's on screen as you drill down to sub-pages.

Even with these minot niggles, this has replaced lire as my go to RSS reader. Will have to see if I still feel the same when my free trial of this app's premium features ends next week.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some minor accessibility issues with this app, but they are easy to deal with.

The subject says it all. Why do you prefer it over the lire app. In what way is it better than lire? Many thanks.

Being frank, I probably switched to this app simply because that's what I do - I typically get itchy feet after using the same app for a while; and am always looking for the 'next big thing'.

Having said that, I am currently finding the user experience with this app a little more satisfying than lire. But, this is a subjective thing, and will depend upon personal tastes and use cases.

This app does offer probably more customisation than any other RSS reader that I have used. Much of this is visual, but there is enough that's not to allow me to fine tune the overall user experience to my tastes.

The test will come in a few days, when my trial of the premium features ends. The one that I would miss is full text retrieval of articles. I can't picture not having this, but it's something that I can get from lire without any further expense.

As it stands right now, I might be tempted to throw $5 at a subscription just as a thank you to the developer for the explicit VoiceOver support in the app.

Hello, I saw that there is a pro version of this app, maybe it is an alternative to the pay as you go subscription model. Maybe you could check it out and let us know. In the mean time, I simply wait to hear from you after you play with the app a bit more. Perhaps some detailed comparison would be nice.

Hi,

I reached out to Lukas, the developer for Fiery Feeds and he was not aware of the problem with the pop up menus. He appreciated being made aware of the issue and he will address this during a UI update that is underway. No specific timeframe has been given, but good to know he will address the issue.
