Bard Mobile volume question

hello all,
When listening to a book on Bard Mobile, I find the volume of the narration is lower than the iPhone's volume. Is there any way I can raise the volume of the speech or at least have it play at the same level of the iPhone's volume? Right now I keep increasing the iPhone's volume
Thanks,
mani

Hi,
I believe it's just how they recorded the book. Certain books are quieter than others. You could either do what you are doing currently or turn the volume of speech down in the volume rotor setting.

I have noticed that, for some of the older books, i.e., those books that don't have chapter navigation available, they seem to be the ones that have been transferred from tape recordings. These books seem to have a slightly quieter volume. I guess it's just par for the course, as they say. I just hit the volume and enjoy the book anyway.

I've noticed with a few books that the book appears to cut off. It still shows that it is playing, but there is absolutely no sound and the last one I read in particular, the last 3 percent of the book was completely cut off. Again, it shows that it is playing, but there is no sounds what so ever.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Hello,

With the book playing but no audio is heard, try deleting the book from your library and download it again.

If the issue still occurs, send an email to BARD with the title, number and the location where the audio is no longer heard.

HTH and good luck.

Hi guys,
I posed a similar question on this forum last week about the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in the UK and the Overdrive app. The RNIB use the Overdrive app for their audio books but there is no way to increase the audio book volume on Overdrive. Some audio books are fine but some have the volume settings too low and I have to strain to hear them, even with headphones.
One thing I tried was to lower the VO volume as suggested avove but that does not affect the ability to hear some audio books.
I also tried going to other audio book apps like Audible and I increased the app volume to 100 percent. Surprisingly, it did help slightly. So, you might like to try that. However, I guess one of the other posters has it the nail on the head, older audio boks transferred from audio tape might have lower gains.
One other point about Bard and the RNIB audio book library. As a UK resident, I get access to the RNIB audio book library of some 20,000 audio books. I guess you guys in the US also get a similar arrangement with Bard? Would it not make sense (if publishing laws permit) for Bard and the RNIB to partner each other so we as blind people get access to more titles? I know the RNIB did something with the Canadian's as I have 'read' some books from the Canadian Library for the Blind or whatever it is called but what about putting some pressure on Bard from your end and I'll do the same in the UK?

Steve.

Hi,
I don't know about the whole bard and RNIB integration thing, but with volume things go, there is no way to increase app volume in bard. Only solution is to use the volume buttons on your device and increase the overall volumeme of the device. I speculate that the bard RNIB integration might snag on copyright laws, but I'm not sure on this
