Sweatcoin converts your steps into currency units called, as you might have guessed it, sweatcoins. You can then spend them on goods, services and experiences on our market place with our partners, donate to charity or exchange them with your friends and family for whatever you fancy. The fitter and healthier you become the wealthier you get. Movement has value!

And remember that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Sweatcoin uses your HealthKit step history data to continuously improve our algorithms and provide you with better offers at the right time.

Accessibility Comments

The app is quite accessible, although there are some parts that definitely need work, the setup process is quite long, due to the fact that you have to touch around the screen to be told what to do, but once you get past that, the accessibility is better, the developers are keen for feedback, so accessibility feedback will definitely help them I think.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads most page elements.

Button Labeling

Most buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Other Comments

I've been using this app for over a month, and I love it, certainly motivates you to walk around more. Remember, if you want to pass it on to other people, give them a referral link, that will get you 5 coins if they join.

hi, wondering has anyone contacted the developers about accessibility? i mean the few buttons that are not properly labeled and how sluggish most of the UI is with VoiceOver.
i also have a question about app offers, does anyone know what an in vote offer is and how it works? i tried to look at the FAQ but although VoiceOver could read me the questions they were showing as dimmed so i couldn't tap them to read the answers.
when i went on the actual website the FAQ version there seemed out of date.

Hello,
Is there a bug in the app? I can get as far as giving my name, allowing such and such to be tracked, but once it gets to my number. Nothing else works out.
Thanks in advance.

I walk on a tredmill. Would i still be able to use this with zombie's run as Im training to race in 2 months.

By Siobhan on Thursday, February 23, 2017 - 05:28

Hi all. First, it says outdoor steps, so I don't think running on a treadmill counts. Good luck in the race. Second, how do you start tracking and stop when you get back? Last,t his app seems only for the UK yet I found it on the app store in the U.S. Weird. I think I'll contact them see what happens.

Hi Guys,
In regards to the few questions mentioned in the comments:
Firstly, The accessibility does definitely need work, as there are a lot of things that VoiceOver users either cannot do, or find difficult to do. In regards to voting for offers in the in voting section, I still haven't worked out how to do it, but I think I found a possible work around for now, am looking at it to see if that can be done.
In regards to someone's comment about the registration process, it is the most complex part of the app, however, it can be done, after you enter your phone number, you need to then enter a confirmation code that will be sent to your phone number, although you might have to find a button to send the code, the most important thing to note is that this particular screen can only be navigated by moving your finger around the screen rather then using the flick gestures.
In regards to tracking, this app only counts outdoor steps like one user mentioned, and you don't need to stop and start tracking, it does it itself so you don't have to.
Any other questions feel free to ask
Hubert

Hi Hubert, so just wondering have you contacted the developers about accessibility? and if so have you had any response if any?

By Siobhan on Thursday, February 23, 2017 - 05:28

Hi. Icontacted them yesterday but so far nothing. Given the time difference, not quite surprised. I wasn't very clear, I did give Apple's link for guides and such for accessibility so we'll see. If those who are better then I at explaining, go for it. The more people speak up the more we can figure out what's up.

iPhone accessibility

The iPhone app is mostly accessible. Despite some minor issues, the app is accessible after you have figured out the app. I've tested the app on my iPhone 6 for about four months (since January 2019) and I'm quite happy with it.

  • Tabs are clearly labeled.
  • Content is mostly readable and accessible.
  • Most of the buttons are labeled

However, there are some cons

  • A recent update caused voiceOver not to read the total Sweatcoin balance .
  • There are some places where labels are not clearly labeled, for example,
  • The button is not labeled at all: "Button".
  • You are not sure if it is a button: "Get 5 now"
  • VoiceOver says nothing.
The advertisement "Close" and "Resume" are not working with voiceOver. Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app is totally unaccessible. The app is on my Apple Watch Series 4 for about four months (since January 2019) and no accessibility improvements was made. I've tested the app with watchOS version 5.0 to 5.2. When you open the app voiceOver only says "Sweatcoin" and nothing else.

  • Explore by touch only reads the time at the top right of the screen and "sweatcoin" on the rest of the screen.
  • Swiping left or right discover no elements or buttons.

I've contacted the developers via email and I've left a review on the AppStore, but no improvements was made in terms of accessibility so far.

If you are using the app, please leave a review on the AppStore to make devs more aware of the visually impaired community.

This app is really a great initiative to get people active. So give it a try.

I can't get past the second screen where it requests permission to view my health data. Anyone else experiencing this? I tried turning Voiceover off to no avail. It reads the whole screen as one block, so I can't select an individual button.

By danie on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 - 05:28

Try to listen through the whole line. it reads everything from the first step upto the step where you are. It will do that until the last step. Just double tap on the line where it reads bak from if you hear the app asks for permissions, such as location or health etc.

I call this app barely usable. First of all, I have an apple watch and it is not even accessible there. I do walk about 500 to 2000 steps a day around my house as I get stuff done and carry stuff and it never converts my steps into coin. Also, the tracking tab is a joke. One way I found a way to work through it is the profile tab. I can sort through by day week and month. Third the friends tab is a joke. That thing is barely usable. The tabs at. the top are sort of unlabeled and look like they do nothing.
