Description of App

Ears Oppoly is a fully accessible board game inspired by the game Monopoly.

The playing board has 40 spots consisting of land properties, railroads, luck cards and other spots. You spin the dice, and move your token to the spot, where you may buy the property or pay rent.

You can play with up to 3 computer opponents, and you can adjust their playing strategy and skill level. You can play either a full game, or a short game, and you can modify several of the rules of the game for more variety. Some of those features require in-app upgrades.

The game comes with coins for playing a bunch of games; you can purchase more coins with an in-app upgrade.

Accessibility Comments

Like all apps in Kid Friendly Software's Blindfold Games series, this one is very accessible. During the game, you'll need to do a two-finger single tap to bring up a screen which will allow you to do things like buy properties, mortgage, trade, etc. For these screens, Voiceover is used.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

This is a great Monopoly-inspired game. While it can be played just fine for free, there are in-app upgrades that you'll need to purchase if you want to take advantage of all the game's features.

I love this game. I have a question. I bought the customize opponents pack, but I cant find the option to change my opponents, I looked in settings; but I cant see the option.

Hi. Once again the author has come up with a jem. This game has got me hooked. Is it possible for you to create a British version of the game as it would be great to have both versions of the game.

By Ornella on Friday, December 23, 2016 - 13:52

I agree they could add the british boards and for future upgrades they could add many more.

there seems to be a bug with the game, the user guide says to get more information on a property tap twice with 2 fingers, so I land on an empty unowned property and I tap with 2 fingers to get more information, and the game says I need to set up posting to social networks from the main menu. I also can't find options to customise opponents.

Just tap the screen once with two fingers. A screen should come up that will allow you to buy a property, and will give you information about it using Voiceover.
I haven't bought any of the in-app upgrades yet, but I also noticed that the Customize Opponents option isn't in the Settings screen. I'm assuming it will be in a future update.

I'll add that, and in the future, more packs of real estate names.

I didn't buy the upgrade yet but when I try to trade with the computer nothing happens. I owned one of the red properties and the computer bought another red and I tried to trade and I get a notification that the computer doesn't want to trade properties.

there seems to be a very nasty bug happening in the game where when I access dialogues that need VoiceOver to read them the actual speech from VoiceOver crashes, I get a click sound but no speech feedback, so for example if I tap and get speech to say you choose a card hear, and there are other instances as well.
when this bug happens I have to press home button to go away from the app, at this point VoiceOver still isn't talking, so I have to press the home button 3 times to quit it, then keep triple pressing home button hoping the speech will come back.
this bug also happens if I am trying to return to the main menu, it says going back to main menu but then the double tap gesture isn't reinstated and the menu isn't read so as soon as I touch the screen other windows can open like settings.
I am using the Alex voice in the game and also for VoiceOver, but I have had this issue with VoiceOver crashing completely a lot within the game.
the bug with the menu seems to be present in all blindfold games, unfortunately these bugs don't happen every time but they reliably happen on pretty much every game, certainly the menu one, and the one with VoiceOver crashing completely I have only noticed in this game.

Unless you've encountered a bug, and no one reported this during beta testing, the computer won't trade with you if it won't get a monopoly in return, and sufficient cash to make it worthwhile.

Its actually an iOS bug that cropped up first in iOS 9. The fastest workaround is to double tap to the app switcher, and then double tap back, and voice over resumes. It tends to happen when bringing up a voice over screen from the game screen, and in that screen, voice over disappears. If you could identify which screens it happens in, and that switching to the app switcher and back fixes it, I can try the workaround.

this game is awesome! I love all the sound effects that were put into it. The two finger flick up gesture doesn't work because VoiceOver just says check and then it freezes. I have to close the game in restart it through the app switcher to get everything back on track. Also, The music doesn't restart sometimes when I go back into the game. Thank you so much for such an awesome new game! and makes monopoly even much more fun, although I will always miss the brill version that I used to play with my family. This is an excellent upgraded substitute.

I've heard this about breakout and we fixed it the same way its fixed in oppoly. Try swiping up more slowly -experiment with different speeds; other users told me that works. When it doesn't work, you don't have to stop the game completely; you can use the app switcher to leave the game, and then use it to come back to the game.

Two things I've noticed.

The Chance and Community Chest cards that make a player advance to a certain property will always cause you to pass "Go" and collect $200 even if you didn't need to pass Go to advance to the specified property. For example, if a player lands on Community Chest and it says to advance to Reading Railroad, If you pass Go collect $200. Regardless if the Railroad is 3 spaces away or 39 spaces away, it will always cause the player to collect $200. It only seems to happen when a card says"if you pass go, collect $200". Anyone else having this happen? The second is the "Smart" player never seems to purchase properties when I play against them. I've tried several games with multiple combinations and they are always the first to go bankrupte because they don't ever buy anything they land on, no matter how many times they go around the board.

I've purchased everything except the ability to play your own music during game play, so I'm not sure why the "Smart" players are behaving the exact opposite of how they are described in my games.

A new version will be released soon to fix the smart player problem. I will look into the issue on passing on; I thought that was fixed.

The smart player will be fixed in the release due out in a few days. As to the reading railroad issue, please send me an email from the game, and we can talk about it
