iOS and iPadOS

When I upgraded to IOS 10.2, everything in my iCloud library (including cd downloads) was there. Now, all that is left is all of my purchased stuff and very little of my cd downloads. I can't resync being I dcon't have a computer to do so. Now, I'll have to buy the stuff off of iTunes. Good thing I have my wish list. Although, some of the cd stuff is no longer on iTunes. It's going to take me a while to rebuild my music library. Unless Apple has a way to getr the stuff back without having ot resync. I merged my library with my iCloud library.

I'm always amazed at how random things like songs, ring tones, etc. randomly seem to disappear after an update. Syncing and preserving data these days doesn't seem ;like rocket science but it seems that Apple often screws up here. Why can't they ever get it straight? I've seen these types of problems on web forums from years and years ago and the problem still persist.

And, although I don't generally have a problem with Apple's [pripriotary OS and realize its many benefits, this type of system also removes control from the user so that when things like this go wrong there is no easy fix or hack.

I don't have that issue. I think something might have gotten corrupt or you deleted something or what not. Remember that you have access ti icloud library now, so maybe it's there.

Good luck.

I like the full control apple has by the way, this way users cannot mess up, or rather it's hard for them to do so. I've never had a cyncing issue but this is because I'm always careful with my data and keep it other places.

Go apple!

How do I access my iCloud library? I know I can see my purchased library from iTunes.

If you are a member of apple music you will just see it and everything will be streamed to your phone as well. I have no music on my phone, it's all in the cloud someware. I love it.

Take care.

I know i'm totally a minority but I'm sorry, I so don't trust the cloud. People have had their music deleted, especially stuff they've imported themselves, and sometimes, the versions they save are different than the versions that are saved to their accounts. This is why I still have a 1.5 tb drive full of music, and other material saved on multiple drives.

I've heard a story in June about something similar last year. For those who didn't, it was a blogger who subscribed to Apple Music. Well, for those who don't know, all your songs should stay on local storage as well as in the cloud. Well, apparently, some way some how, ALL his music got deleted! And knew versions of certain songs were put into his library! He put a blog post out that was called Apple Stole My Music (at least I think that's what it was called).

I trust the cloud, however, I've had problems with data before too. One time, I had this USB. drive that I'd had since 6th grade. It had years worth of stuff on it that couldn't be replaced. Plus, it had books from Bookshare on it )3 pages worth!). Well, like all things wear and tear took its toll & the part that plugged into the USB. port was bending. Well, I didn't have the data backed up. Well, one day, it finally reached its breaking point & snapped. The WHOLE PIECE was gone, making the data inaccessible! Unfortunately, the work from school-years prior was irreplaceable. I had to go back in & re-download all 3 pages worth of books from Bookshare. It was PUHE TORTURE! YIKES!! Thankfully, my uncle whose a tech wiz himself, was able to get it off, but he had to sodder it together. Now, I'm crazy about backing up my stuff. I have multiple copies of my data on me at all times on flash drives.

That saved me a few months ago when one of those drives was on its last legs. All I had to do was take all the books off that I had put on there over the course of a few months & was done. When it finally broke, I was able to open the book & find where I left off. I breathed a sigh of relief on that one. And the backup didn't take long, I was able to back it up & restore it the same day.

As a long time IT professional, I have always followed the rule that one copy of something never constitutes a long term, safe loss prevention methodology. A cloud service is a part of a data storage solution because it eliminates the potential problem of having all data in one place, even if on separate media. Offsite storage is a good thing. However, having it as the only file repository gives me pause.

I am not admonishing the original poster for the problem. Clearly, the iCloud and Apple Music services are marketed as total solutions, and data loss is not supposed to be an issue. But it can and does happen.

This is the main reason I choose to buy instead of rent music. I am not subject to the whims of a streaming service and have control of my beloved music collection. I understand the attraction of everything, everywhere, all the time, but I am risk averse and sleep better knowing my music files will not be heard today, and gone tomorrow.

I'm sorry, but what kind of responses that if you were a member of Apple. That just makes it sound so snobbish when somebody says something that ridiculously dumb. Not everybody wants to sign up and use Apple Music. I know some love to just buy and use absolutely everything that Apple says without question, and not hold them accountable for things, but I'm not that way. I think we as a community have a responsibility to hold Apple accountable when they mess up with Accessibility. Such is on the Mac, they have just left to rot like the system nobody wants. And we seriously need to make them accountable for that fact. I think instead of emailing Accessibility, we all as a community need to start emailing Tim Cook directly, and make him aware of what's going on and what is needed. Accessibility is not listening, so I think we need to go to the CEO himself and make him listen. I for one am sick and tired of all the resources being devoted to iOS, and not enough to Mac.

I'm not putting Apple down at all. I think, Apple, as far as accessibility wise, is better than a lot of companies I have had to deal with. I'm just frustrated with the fact that I lost half of my music library and wish there was a way to get it back without having to rebuy everything and or resync, if I could. I don't have a computer. Just my iPad and braille display and my braillenote. I would rather have my own library than sign up for Apple music because I don't have WiFi here at work and I can always check something out on iTunes. If that makes sense. I think Apple is great as far as accessibility on IOS devices. Certainly a lot better than Jaws which I also work with at work.

Hello everyone. I am not having any accessibility issues with iOS 10.2. I found Tim Cooks email address: tcook@apple.com. You can also direct message him on twitter: @Tim_cook.

Hi All, direct messaging only works, if you and the other person is following. hth. anyways, I agree, I emailed Tim Cook in the past, but I didn't gotton a reply. Guess I'll try again later.
