Hello AppleVis Community,
About three weeks ago I started receiving a message that 'Touch Id cannot be activated on this iPhone.' Ever since, I have not been able to use Touch Id for anything on my phone. The strangest part is that, my phone (iPhone 6Plus) becomes extremely hot all the time as if it is connected to a power source. This part makes me very uncomfortable and fear using the phone.....
Please does anyone knows how to go around this? I was hoping the recent 10.2 update will knock this off since I found a number of people also complaining on the Apple Support Communities page especially about battery problems around the same time mine started. I am now only able to get into my phone by password, which is more than boring now, and my battery runs out so fast if not soars away, even when I am not doing anything with it.
Many thanks for any clue around this.
Alli.

Hi alli,
Hi alli,
I would either recommend doing a complete restore via iTunes on your phone, or take it into an apple store and maybe they'll replace the phone. Try doing a complete restore via iTunes using the latest backup of your iOS and see what happens. Otherwise go into the passcode/touch id settings and see what is there. Maybe you could try disabling it and reenabling the ID feature.
HTH and hope any of this helps.

Hi Justin,
Many thanks for the iTunes suggestion, but at the passcode/touch Id tab, actually, Touch Id over there is always deemed; I hope you know what I mean. Well, apart from passcode where I can edit,Touch Id is not responsive there. Actually, that was the first place I went to try to scan back my finger print.
Many thanks, for the suggestions.

Touch ID suggestions
Alli,
If nothing works software wise, or re scanning your fingers, I'd bring it into the apple store. If your having temperature issues with your phone as well, it sounds like a much bigger issue than the finger print scanner not working correctly. Apple has diagnostics and other tools available to them at the store they can test your phone with to see what might be going wrong. I'd highly recommend you bring it over to an Apple store when you can. I realize this is not the most convenient option, but probably your best at this point.
I agree. I have some of those
I agree. I have some of those tools at my house and so for me I know when my phone is about to take a masive crap, and when it does it's not prtty.
Touch Id suggestions
Many thanks, Pyro2790. I am most grateful for your suggestion.

Could be other things
Hello,
First thing you should look at is your phone getting warm. I’ve seen a few iPhones where the device gets warm. In most cases, it was resolved using factory restore. If your phone is still under warranty, by all means, take it to an Apple store. But if it’s out of warranty, try to do a factory restore before going to the Apple store.
Connect your iPhone to your PC using a USB cable. Back up your device. Then select factory restore. Setup as a new iPhone and don’t install any apps. Don’t restore from a backup. Setup your wifi, icloud and touch ID as usual. Test and check your iPhone. Is it getting warm? Does the touch ID work? After a few days, if everything is okay, you can either install each app or restore from backup.
HTH and good luck.

Hi david s,
Very good suggestion and sounds like a 'tryable' option.
Many thanks, and cheers!
