Hello all! Now that we are all in the process of digesting all of the new things with in the IOS 6. I am curious in what bugs you have found so far? Our goal is to compile a comprehensive list that we could perhaps send off to Apple for considerations in helping us for the next update for IOS 6. Together, I think we can do it! So I ask if you wouldn't mind in joining in with me and with all of all of you on AppleVis. To hop in and leave in what you have found together. I know in the past few days that a lot of remarks and regrets have been said. I can only hope we can forgive each other and slowly mend our community back together. As a united front in finding these bugs together will only help us make the next IOS 6 update that much better if you would kindly join in with us on this effort. Thanks so much and happy bug hunting!

That sounds like quite an issue and inconvenient problem. You might want to not just assume it is an IOS 6 bug and see if you can get rid of the issue by restoring or investigating further what might be conflicting or causing it.

OK, so I haven't read like, any of the comments so far, so if someone already said something about this I'm not trying to be redundant. But the main bug I found that's really annoying for me so far is that when you are in the messages app, and you lock your screen, if you get a text message or iMessage or anything, it doesn't make the sound. So then when you unlock your screen, you may have 15 messages you weren't even notified of. That's really annoying to me because I used to just lock my screen and keep it in the messages app so I didn't have to go home every single time I wanted to lock my screen. Anyway, that's the most annoying thing for me aside from some other random bugs, but this one is definitely the most note-worthy so far. So thanks, and as I said before, not trying to be redundant.

Hi, I haven't seen this noted here, but I didn't read thru all of the comments, so sorry if it's already been brought up. In Contacts, unless you tap the far right (which then says "Table Index: Adjustable"), the heading letters for my contacts are all mixed up. For example, today it had it in this order: P E L T S M Z....etc. The contacts are in the right order and can be reached with a flick right or left, but the headings are all mixed up. Just one more thing we have to remember to tap *eyeroll*

When I upgraded to IOS 6, the Samantha Compact voice was used. I personally prefer the Samantha voice, but when I went into the VoiceOver settings, I could not find the "Use Compact Voice," checkbox. Later, the Samantha voice came back. I didn't have to do anything; I guess when I connected to my wifi network, as someone else has said already, the Samantha voice was reloaded onto my iPhone, and I could use it again. I was worried that Apple had downgraded by getting rid of the Samantha voice, which they had introduced into IOS 5.
I have always had a problem with entering numbers into an automated system. The speech is so quiet when you are talking with someone on the phone. It's fine when you're just checking email or doing something else, but when you're in the middle of a phone call, the speech is so quiet. I can understand why they did this, because, in theory, you wouldn't want the speech to override what the person on the other end is saying, but when you're trying to enter numbers into an automated system, it's a problem. This is something they should consider fixing, but I don't think it's new to IOS 6.
I also noticed the fact that the phone doesn't announce "Muted," or "Unmuted," when it is locked. That's a very good observation. I actually appreciate this new feature because when you're trying to mute the phone while it's locked, I don't think most people would want to have that announced. The idea is to mute the phone, and that is probably why they added this feature.

I don't use AirPlay, but I could see how that would get annoying. Another thing that I really hate is when I get a text and the phone chimes at me more than once if I don't answer it. I know it used to do that with calls, but now it does that with text messages. It gets really annoying if you can't respond immediately the first time. If you don't do it the first time, it will keep chiming at you until you go in there and read the message. This is very annoying.
There are so many comments here that I truely haven't had a chance to look at all of them so if this is a repeat I apologize in advance. After upgrading to iOS 6 on my iPod touch 4g, I've noticed an interesting bug when using a bluetooth keyboard, especially when you're required to enter your password when purchasing an app, or for any other password-related stuff. You'll go to type in the password in but nothing will happen. Your bluetooth keyboard still works, but nothing will work. The workaround I found is to hold the power button for a few seconds, as if you're going to shut the iPod down. When the dialogue pops up that says, slide to power off, simply hit the cancel button. After that for whatever reason, you can then type in your password. Interesting times. I figured that one out purely by trial and error.

Honestly, haven't had any issues with the IPhone since installing IOS6.0 except losing focus when going through large amounts of texts such as news articles and switching through headings. That issue only happens here and there and can be a little annoying, but relatively far in between. Actually, it seems to happen on applevis when going to the website through IPhone's safari browser. When I switch through headings, the focus can be lost and takes me back to the top, but its never the same heading and happens randomly. Beyond that, I've had a little problem with going through emoticons in the emogy keyboard when using touch typing, but its generally resolved when switching to standard typing. I haven't had any of the other issues at all. Not the contacts where they are dispersed, not freezing, no crashing, nothing. I believe that others have been having these issues, but they might be resolved through restoring the iphone to original factory settings. I say that because IOS is a relatively large os and when installing a firmware update that possesses many new features and by extension, probably a large number of programmed code in the background, some things can sometimes get imprinted weirdly; and it can happen to any program. Jaws sometimes requires a user to uninstall and reinstall the screenreader in windows because issues occur that might be a mixup in the installation of an upgrade and the coding goes a little weird. Even Microsoft suggests that Windows be upgraded by saving all files and programs desired, but then wiping the PC clean and doing a clean install. I'm not saying these bugs don't exist, but sometimes, its better to restore to be sure. I think a user should restore their IPhone, but not immediately do a backup restore. Go through the phone on its own first and see if the issues reoccur. If they do, then it is clearly a bug. If not, then it might be the program installed, or even some type of error in the backup restore itself. Its happened to me numerous times and I've essentially resorted to not backup restoring and just taking the time to individually installing my old programs and setting up my preferences. It might take 30 minutes or an hour as opposed to 5 minutes, but sometimes worth it.
I want to thank you for posting this and say that I agree that we do not always need to be so quick to assume it is definitely a bug. Fortunately I haven't had many of the issues and have put IOS 6 on several devices. If you have been around IOS for very long, you likely have at least come across plenty from what you have read and maybe your own experiences to suggest that the upgrade process is definitely subject to introducing errors as stated in the message above and this is not just theory, but absolutely plays out in real life. If I started listing examples, this message would get unnecessarily long. Take just one example that comes up absolutely every single time an IOS version is released though. The battery issue. If you google for it you can get the entire collection if you search for it on each version. People immediately start slamming the new version for it every single time. I'm not saying people don't have the issue, but they do not always seem to look at the other possible factors, including the installation of the current version itself.
Well, I don't want this to sound like I am tooting my own horn, but I have been using the IPhone since the IPhone 4 and IOS4.0 was released. I've had many different types of issues over the years including having to change the back plate of the IPhone due to a crack in the glass (bought the back plate and changed it myself with the smallest screws you could imagine), jailbreaking, installing developer firmware betas before I became a developer myself, and have gone through different versions of the software including the fragmentation when the Verizon IPhone 4 was originally released and used IOS 4.2 and AT&T version was using IOS 4.3. I have had the IPhone 4s with sprint, moved to Verizon, and then moved to a white 4s with AT&T. I read as much IOS information I can handle and like to play with apps and yes, I make Apple give me a refund for third party inaccessible apps. I will not say I know everything or that I have all the answers because frankly, I don't. But I try to figure out bugs and take notice within an hour of install if its possible to see it. I have had many bugs through the years and a good deal of them were resolved by resetting the IPhone to factory settings. Sometimes, a bug is real and transfers from IPhone to IPhone (like the IOS 5X bug where voiceover would stop talking when going through text and taking 3-4 minutes to begin talking again despite the voiceover click noises remaining). Simply saying something is a bug should mean that the user has gone through steps to ensure that it is so. resetting may be inconvenient, but sometimes, SOMETIMES, it resolves certain issues and should be tried before taking the easy route and saying BUG just to have something to be mad at..
I did restore the iOS the other day, and much of the sluggishness has disappeared. I've never really had issues with the battery life, but the main one, at least for me, is the fact that none of my labels are sticking. I relabeled buttons for our five times, just to make sure, and they're definitely not being recorded. Voiceover losing focus is also a big issue, as well as a couple games like Aurifi and PapaSangre crashing, games I purchased. The main thing to remember is that it's much better to install the firmware through iTunes and to do it over Wi-Fi. This seems to take a lot of sluggishness and flakiness away from the iOS six. So then, do I regret installing iOS six? Yes, I do, however, it's Don and there's no use crying over spilled milk, so I'm patiently waiting for the next upgrade, kicking myself since the only reason I did it in the first place was to be one of the first have the new iOS. That was just silly. Oh well, live and learn!
I can't help but see the problem with the idea when people talk about upgrading to the latest version or not as some kind of complete choice of their own. Yes one may very well be able to, but all of the factors are not within your own control to do so. If you ever have to restore for some reason, if you have to exchange or get a new device for any reason, and maybe other variations do not leave it within the user's own control to stay on an older version. It's more of a delay with a little luck. I just really see that as a huge problem with the logic of not upgrading to avoid problems. It's more like, I may not have control of having to deal with any issues on it, so might as well learn how. In the case of IOS 6, if I did not have it and only thought it was as bad as all the bashing it seems to get, I would think this thing must be about unusable too.

I have had the volume control bug, the keyboard not going into landscape mode and the dialing keypad has frozen. All these can be fixed by force-quitting the associated app.
Hi I have the complete opposite problem when using iPod touch 4th gen. I cannot, for the life of me, change an incorrect label I gave to a dictionary. I have deleted the label several times, try to save and "done" the label several times more and the same old label appears time after time. Now I have two dictionaries labelled, one correctly and the other not. The touch-typing seems to work well, and once you get used to it, especially if you have the auto-correction feature on, does well. Anyone got a suggestion?

I didn't hear this one, so here goes. I've seen it at least one other place, but multiple times when trying to set a ringtone. Whether swiping or using a keyboard, sometines the phone will skip several items or act like there are no more when I know I'm nowhere near the end. If I go back up and then down again I can get more, though sometimes it takes more than one try. Sometimes I can get around it by tapping where I know there should be something I'm not hearing by using the swipe gestures.

When using Siri to compose either a text or email the "swoosh" sound no longer happens when you tell Siri to send the message or email. If this is by design, Apple should change it back to the old way. If it's a bug, Apple should fix it as I think it's important to have the audible cue to confirm the message or email has been sent. Note: The sound is still there if you dictate or physically type the message & click on the "send" button. Please help me to notify Apple about this issue. Thanks.

By Adam on Saturday, October 27, 2012 - 03:29

When using Siri to dictate a message or email it seems instead of putting in the punctuation (i.e. ., ?, etc.) the word "period", "comma", etc. is being spelled out as though it was part of the message. This wasn't happening in IOS5.1.1. Please help me notify Apple of this issue so it can be resolved. Thanks.

I don't have that problem. Siri and dictation behave as they should in iOS 6.

I know this has already been brought up, but I also have the issue where the messages app freezes when I tap the "Action" button on a photo I want to save. Kind of annoying. Also, all my button labels have disappeared and I can't bring them back! Other than that, I'm loving iOS 6 though.

I know this is very basic but nevertheless, extremely annoying. I have tried to use the timer feature in the world clock built-in app and this is what happens. I am unable to use the hours and minutes at all, the minutes will give you 59 or less, and the hours just don't work. A complete waste of time, if I could find an easy timer feature in another app I would. I am beginning to wish I'd had never bothered upgrading my iPods at all. What next...

After updating to iOS 6, some of the apps that I use which have cut & paste functionality stopped working. Some of the videos I watched also stopped working. Does Apple believe that people who upgraded to iOS 6 and experienced a lot of problems are going to continue using Apple products? I'm gone as soon as I find a smart phone that serves my purposes.

By Smelborp on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 - 03:29

I sense the demise of Apple as a direct result of the release of iOS 6 pre-maturely- without having first re-checked the iOS 6 software before release. In order to save the company, Apple will need to allow ALL users who upgraded to iOS 6 to be able to revert back to iOS 5 until they can offer a superior upgrade. What a shambles iOS 6 is!?!?!?!? Who actually okeyed its release anyway? They should be fired. Steve Jobs is very much missed. The good name of 'Apple' died with him.

HI. Yes, admittedly there are some bugs in iOS 6 but there have been bugs in previous iOS versions. I personally don't think it's bad enough to revert. I like the new features enough and the small bugs really doesn't make the phone unusable in my opinion. The most irritating bug for me would have to be the sound skipping in games and perhaps the saving photos in text messages. For those that have apps that crash, perhaps the debs need to update their apps.
when you stop there, nothing wrong, but as you step further, you will find something wrong. the steps is: "general" -> "restrictions" -> "open" ->"locations" -> "don't allow changes", you will find the missing city page is in notification center again, but this time it can't get the weather.

Once you tap dictate and say what you have to say. just double tap anywhere on the screen and it will beep and stop recording your voice. I never saw this as a bug, but rather, if you are dictating a long message or email, why would you want it to stop before you are finished. Siri is automatic because its meant for shorter dictation or commands, but dictation could be for something longer.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Thursday, December 27, 2012 - 03:29

I think its important for people to think about things before they post. It seems like this forum has taken on the role for venting in some cases. Not everything is going to be a bug. A bug constitutes something wrong occurring repeatedly due to some action when something else is expected. Dictation not automatically stopping because a user wants it to stop when they want doesn't constitute a bug. I am honestly very tired of everyone complaining and making negative comments when they should take the time and e-mail accessibility@apple.com or calling apple's accessibility phone number at 1-877-204-3930. The people you can speak to at this number are dedicated to assisting voiceover and accessibility users with questions about accessibility features as well as recordering comments about improving accessibility as well as noting bugs and submitting them to software engineers who can actually fix the issues. Complaining on this site sometimes accomplishes little except to confirm an actual bug, vent out frustrations, or make negative comments that could only serve to alienate the people actually making accessibility for us as users. I am not saying to not show frustration, but there is a difference between inquiring about something because it is affecting your use and bluntly stating things like Apple is doomed or that they don't care about us as users. The fact is that they do care enough to make it a free thing that rivals screenreaders we usually have to pay upwards of $1000 just to have. They have an accessibility email and an accessibility phone number where you can talk directly with actual people that note your issues. Tell me, What company have you used that has this kind and level of service for a minority? By all means, inquire, question, comment, but I am personally becoming irritated by the negativity of some commenters who have nothing to say but bad things. Think about what constitutes a bug and what doesn't. Restore your phone to factory settings, see if the problem persists, use common sense when saying something doesn't work because it might just be a subtle feature your not thinking about.
I am not sure if this is similar to the choppy audio issue mentioned earlier with games or an app specific issue but in Tune in radio, if you pause and then play a radio stream and then swipe left or right, the audio be's choppy for a few seconds. Also touch typing mode can sometimes be v slow. It seems to be typing but it won't speak the characters as I am typing them. I've noticed in the facebook app that Voiceover sometimes won't read the current status I'm on when I swipe to it. I have to swipe right and then back left again to get it to read it. The Voiceover volume in the phone app is v low when on a call but I found that to be the case in IOS5 also

By Neo on Sunday, January 27, 2013 - 03:29

Also when I switch to the emoji keyboard for example when writing a text message and move my finger over the keyboard, VoiceOver makes the ding ding sound to say nothing's there but if I move my finger away and back again then it will start reading the icons.
