Accessibility Comments

As of version 1.6.1, most buttons within this app are now properly labeled and most parts of the app are VO-accessible. Unfortunately, there is at least one important part of the app which still appears to be inaccessible to VO: the actual text content of the flashcards. The only way to hear the content of flashcards is for the User to rely on the app's own TTS engine to read aloud flashcard content and it does not seem possible to perform standard interactive reading functions such as navigating by character, word or line. Aside from that, I would say the Developers of this app are doing a commendable job of improving VO access.

In addition, Quizlet has reversed course and continued to allow third-party Developers to access their site content, at least for the time being.

*** Below are the notes from my original review of version 1.5.1 of the Quizlet app. ***
Beyond the accessible login screen, most parts of this App are currently difficult or impossible to access with VO.

Most buttons are announced simply as "button. Some buttons are announced as a description of the icon itself, for example "Happy face with open mouth" for the main menu, "Saxophone" for the search button, and a bunch of others I was not able to figure out, including "Raised fist," "Beer mug," Man's head," and "Shortcake."

There are also accessibility issues with the feature at the heart of this App: it's interface with the Quizlet database. One of the unlabeled buttons presents an accessible search box where the User can enter terms to search the Quizlet database, but the resulting list of search results is not accessible to VO. Thus, it does not seem possible to search the Quizlet site for desired flashcards and download them for use within the app, which is the main purpose for this apps existence.

Quizlet has announced that they will no longer permit third-party connections to the Quizlet database, so beginning in September 2014, the only ways to directly access the wealth of information available from Quizlet will be through this inaccessible app, the native Quizlet Android App, or the Quizlet website.

Usability

There are some accessibility issues with this app, but it can still be used if you are willing to tolerate these issues and learn how to work around them.

Hello,
I have been in communication with the developers of this app and they have made improvments. i will be contacting them soon with my thoughts/suggestions for changes.
They are prompt at responding to messages and willing to help so I encourage people to contact them.
I am planning to create a podcast as well.

Works great with both voice over and the braille display. Just type enter to submit your answer. I used the virtual on screen braille display to type answers. So far I have used the learn mode and the matching game. The matching game makes reviewing aaaddictive!!! I'm so excited to have a nice way to study some really boring terminology. LOL And the flash cards made by others are a great resource.
