looking for special types of games

Hello. I am looking for virtual pets or farm games. I used to play mobbles but iOs broke that. I play hatchi right now but am not very intrigued by this since the game is very much just beeps, so that doesn't work for me. I still play it though. I am interested in farming games because my friend plays them. Also I like games where you can build stuff, but am wishing for such a game that isn't so focused on battling. Anyone know of such a game? //Sabrina.

You literally just summed up my favorite types of games! I like virtual pets too, and I like building games, like the Sims, (except that's not accessible, which is annoying), and I also don't want the battling games. As for virtual pets, I have Hatchi as well. I also have Mobile Aquarium and I have a baby care game, MyBabySim. If anybody else has any games like these, I would be interested as well.

Oh, I had totally forgotten the mobile aquarium. I got that now. We'll see if I am good at keeping my fish alive. :-)

That's why I wish Solara was still around, where you could build things, battle, compete, a little bit of farming, etc.
My favorite character was Zora the part where she became a sorceress and could shower these meteors on your opponents, oh and the Druid who could heal your whole team.
Fighty was a good healer but could only heal a person at a time.
Anyway, long story short, if Solara was around I would still be hooked. Right now I play MyBabySim, and some of the x2line games, but those tend to be boring sometimes (except the My Baby Sim one).

I'm not as much into the virtual pet game, as I tend to get rather bored of it after a while. But I do love building games.

I was hooked on Celtic Tribes for a while, though it got pretty flat and boring once I managed to build a Fortress - this is another one of those games where battling/conquering other players is one of the main objectives and it can get frustrating when you're just trying to build your village or whatever and get conquered. I opted not to play anymore.

I really wish there was an accessible Sim City or The Sims type game - I used to love these games when I could still see. I also wish there was more of the "Tycoon" type games like Rollercoaster Tycoon or Zoo Tycoon. I'm unaware of any of these types of games that are fully accessible on the iPhone that don't also seem to deal with battling other people. There is "Park Boss" which is a PC/computer game, but I haven't gotten very far into it as of yet.

The only one I can think of that comes close as an iPhone game is "King of Dragon Pass" - it is single player and you work to rule a village. You can attack other villages, though you can also try to be diplomatic with them, etc. I know I had to look through a walkthrough to try to figure out the nuances of that game - it's really addicting! I haven't been able to play it recently, though, due to my 16 GB iPhone 6 having run out of space and had to delete it temporarily to make space.

By Justin on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Oh yes, King of dragon pass is quite fun to play. I've been playing a strategy mafia game called turf wars for a while now. It's an interesting game. Since solara crashed and died, that is really the only strategy game i've played recently. Lords and knights/keltic tribes are alright, but not the same.

By Justin on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Forgot to say, someone should make a virtual race car game that audibly puts you behind the seat of a race car, learning how to properly shift and drive. What they need to do is make a driving game that teaches you how to actually shift a manual transmission using a clutch, etc.

By Kristen on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Ah - yeah. I played Turf Wars for a while, too, but got bored with it as well. Entering in those codes endlessly kind of dragged on me.

I just want Sim City for the blind. lol.

I did find a browser game - new1000AD, I think it's called - that is very much like Civilization/Age of Empires. Where you choose a civilization and build/research, etc. but it's turn-based rather than time-based like Celtic Tribes/Lords & Knights. It was rather fun when I tried it. I should try again on the "Empire Builder" mode.

Though now I want to play "King of Dragon Pass" again! Might have to see if I can delete enough to make room for it again.

By Kristen on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Oh. No idea if it's your cup of tea.

But there is a game called "Tin Star". It is like those kajillion interactive novel things, though your character has stats and skills in the background that sort of flesh out the character a bit. I found it a bit more in-depth than the usual interactive fiction. You can choose to raise certain skills in a sort of turn-based way as your character goes through the seasons and even direct them to visit different areas to talk to different people - it felt less static and more fluid and I've been meaning to look for other interactive fiction like this. I think it costs $5, though, but it had a lot of replayability I found.

By Paige on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Haha. Mobile Aquarium is a little easier because you don't have to care for your fish as much. And Tunmi I agree with you on all your points; MyBabySim is my favorite game, the X2line games have good potential but are very boring. As for Solara, I loved it but i wish it wasn't so battle-based. And there was farming in Solara?? I wasn't very far in, only about level 18, so maybe more stuff came in later levels. And yes I am also interested in Tycoon and Sim City games. There is a game called City Island t is accessible up until the poing where you have to tap the building to get more info. I was thinking about emailing the developer to make this app totally accessible, because it has a very good concept that I would want to play.

By Kristen on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

I seem to remember someone emailing the City Island developers when it first was added to the app directory here, though not sure if it got anywhere. Can'th urt to email them again.

It would be great if we had an IOS gamelike the windows games Castaways and Castaways 2 by Aprone. That would be the best!!

By Sabrina on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Believe it or not, I am playing my talking tom and my talking angela and no, it's not accessible and cluttered with ads so I have to work by trial and error. That's the only pet game I have found. I have hatchi but it's not often giving notifications and it's not the same thing. So I play these inaccessible ones. I have learned where things are now even though it takes a lot of time and trial and error. When it comes to building games I looked for city island and found a lot of games with that name. I have played celtic tribes but wish there was a server for blind players. I prefer celtic tribes instead of lords and knights. I love the celtic theme. I was in a tribe but they started treating me differently when they knew I couldn't see. I maybe should try my baby sim. The thing with this is that it doesn't give notifications. I play mobile aquarium and just killed five pour fish. That's sad but I honestly forgot about it the second day. That's why I need notifications. I have terrable memory. Honestly, notifications are important to me. Yeah, I miss Solara. Was there farming in solara? I don't remember anything about that. I didn't get that far. It was a little too battle based though. What we need is a strategy game without all these battle focusing because I just want to build stuff. We all miss mobbles when it comes to pet games. I understand that it can never be replaced.

By Sabrina on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Forget those inaccessible things. I just got my baby sim and am officially hooked on it. And the notifications work! I love it.

By Paige on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Hi. How do you play the tom and angela games if they're not accessible? What is Celtic Tribes? If I knew what it was I might play it. And yeah, I wish Mobile Aquarium had notifications. I have had the same situation as you, where I forgot about my fish and the poor little things died. Yeah I really want a strategy-based building sim instead of a battle-based ones. We need more fluffy, pleasant games! I really want mobbles back. It was such an amazing virtual pet, and I enjoyed the social trading aspect. We need it back, or something like it. I love Hatchi, but it's not the same without the social piece. And yes MyBabySim is my favorite game, it's addictive and challenging and amazing.

By Sabrina on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

To play those two games you will have to learn where everything is on the screen. I wouldn't reccocmend playing them because it's no fun experience. Celtic tribes is nearly like lords and knights, you build villages and battle other players and such. And there are tribes. Though battle isn't important here.

By Paige on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

Celtic Tribes sounds kind of fun.

By Kristen on Saturday, November 26, 2016 - 13:13

With either Celtic Tribes or Lords and Knights, be sure to join a Tribe/Clan or whatever that is pretty high on the rankings list instead of creating your own. If you don't, you'll have people attacking you the minute you're out of the 2 week protection mode - if you're with a big tribe, they'll think twice before attacking you right away because attacking someone in a big tribe can have repercussions. I did find the players in Celtic Tribe were a bit friendlier or something and the theme was interesting.

I just hated the fact that, if you lose a battle badly enough, you lose your entire Castle/Village with everything. It seemed harder to have that happen in Celtic Tribes due to the fact you can use idols/artifacts to raise your defense really high and the battle system was a bit different (in Lords and Knights people could send wave after wave of troops and just overwhelm you.)

Anyhow. Celtic Tribes/Lords & Knights can be frustrating because you can lose your progress due to the player battles. Also, I was expecting more content once I made a Fortress in Celtic Tribes, though it's just like it starts everything over with the Fortress but makes the resource costs and time to build tripled/quadrupled.

Crafting Kingdom, while it does have armor and weapons as craftable products, doesn't actually involve any combat, PVP or otherwise, at least as far as I've found. You can get boosts if you don't mind watching videos, or you can buy unlimited boosts for around $4 as an in-app purchase. You can even play totally offline if you want to (I found this out by lucky coincidence during a time when I had *NO* internet. LOL)

I too am on the lookout for a game like Sim City that is accessible. I have yet to find one.

Maybe someone else will have more luck contacting the developers of City Island.

I wish we had something like Virtual Villagers. I think you can build a village and watch your community grow.

Castaways is no good once you actually get to building your settlement in a mode other than sandbox because there are zombies. It is battle based too.

Finally I have found a game. It is called Plant Nanny and is actually a water reminder, but I play it like a care gae. You take care of a plant by watering them and when you are done with the plant you can put it in the garden and it will produce seeds for you to be able to get other plants for them.
I bought the ad cleaner because I didn’t like autoplaying ads, especially not the wish ad that covered the screen.
Some should say this game is inaccessible, but that isn’t the case, not for me at least.
Setting up the game might be a little tricky and you will need sighted help with that part but the watering and the garden and most verything, except the shop are accessible. But I just downloaded all the plants so I don’t need to go there now. The plants are free but you have to download them and I had my staff download every single one of them and now there are a lot of plants. Hope this helps someone.

Knight commander is a game you have to send your people on tasks to gather materials that you can use to make buildings which will help your tribe grow stronger. You can make weapons and you can go to war but not with other players you can go to war with computer opponents. There is no multiplayer war option yet. I don’t know if the developer will add them. There are disasters which can destroy your buildings but those can be disabled in the options screen. The game is to dollar but there are no in app purchases and there are no ads. There is also buildings which can be made by MAGIC! which you can obtain by quests. You can also personalize your characters and rename them.
I hope this piece of information helps someone and definitely check out the game

Zora could use meteors? I didn't get to that part, I was too late! Excuse me while I go through the five steps of grief all over again! RIP, my beloved Solara! The first game I ever played all by myself with voiceover. The first, but certainly not the last. I wanna be a youtuber now.

Ok so I recently took that little survey thingy that pops up in settings in some of the apps, and I discovered that Kid Friendly Software has had requests for care, restaurant, and building games. I feel that, for those of us who dearly wish we could play the Sims, we should petition the Blindfold Games folks for a Sims-like game. After all, they made their own take on Candy Crush, called Color Crush. What do you all think?

By Joel on Thursday, September 26, 2019 - 13:13

I’ve seen people on this thread, and many others, ask for a building game. Let me tell you right now, that’s not going to happen. I’m sorry to crush your dreams, but it simply won’t happen. Here’s why:
•The gameplay would certainly not be voiceover friendly.
•playing it using only audio would be extremely hard, if not impossible.
•The frustration of having to remember where each block is is going to be unbearable. I have no doubt that people are going to give up on it because of that.
So, next time you ask for an accessible Minecraft, remember this. We’re better off sticking to idle games like Crafting Kingdom, because building games are never going to be something playable by us.

By Joel on Thursday, September 26, 2019 - 13:13

Besides, I personally prefer games with good stories and combat, and personally, I wouldn’t mind the fact that there are no building games. Besides, in my last post, I stated how impossible building games are to play.

Hi guys. I’m new to applevis so this is my first post. About these mentioned game genres, these also happened to be my favourite types of games. Galactic colonies is going to have an accessibility mode implemented soon. This is developed by the same people who developed crafting kingdom. You could try a game called Planet Life. Anyway, that’s it from me.
