a flight simulator?

Hi,
this is about an app I thought would be good to have on iOS.
I am interested in planes and aviation. I would love to have a flight simulator that's accessible. I understand that there are many challenges in doing this as it could be quite complicated.
I know that there is one for windows that you can just speak to but I think you have to buy it and I'm not sure how accessible it is. Anyway, I think it would be great to have something like this and it would really interest me. Whether we would be able to fly the plane manually or whether you could give the co-pilot voice commands to do things for you or something I don't know.
If anyone knows of any apps like this out their already then let me know but I must have tried every one with no success.

as far as I know, there are no apps like this on the app store. I agree that it would be damn cool to have one available. But it would take a hell of a long time to code it to where it would be as accurate as possible. plus, you'd have to figure out a way to use the gyroscope/gps/compass and what not, not to mention making it work with VO as you mentioned.

we were not talking about a flight sim for the pc. we're talking about one possibly being made for iOS if it were to ever happen.

It's not really the best app, but there's an app called stealthfly where you try not to crash a plane. It's really difficult, and not exactly the best app I've played, but it's something i guess...

technically, that app doesn't count as a flight sim even if it does have flying as part of the game. Flight sims have a whole other feature set that can include weather types, aircraft selections, aeronautical physics, etc etc etc. Stealth fly doesn't really do anything to simulate that.

Stop judging LOL. You're not judging i know.

Stealth fly would still kinda be considered a flight simulator, however, it is not filled with the right features to be called a flight simulator.

Point taken. It does at least include the flihgt aspect of a flight sim, but everything doesn't exist like you said. I'd love to see someone use the papa engine and make a flight sim where you could fly f16's, f22 rapters, kc135 tankers, etc.

For sure. If someone could build that sort of sim for Mac/iOS I'd pay whatever to get it, no questions asked! Also, they need to make the preflight checks built in, repair what needs to be fixed at the hanger, fuel the planes, startup sequences, lessons in flying, etc. I know Microsoft flight sim was great a few years back, haven't played that in a long while!

Someone needs to make an add on for Xplane that is just like It's Your Plane for FSX. Xplane is a much better simulator I think. Unfortunately, I have heard nothing about the up coming Flight Sim from DoveTail Games.

I know I told a few of you about a way to do flight simming on PC. Bad news is that It's Your Plane is no longer being developed or supported. In fact, I gave up on tryin to get support for this product years ago when the developer started telling blind people who use the product to go f themselves. So, I can no longer say there is a way to do flight sim on the PC since it is not worth paying money for an out dated, not being developed, and not being supported product any longer.
On a slightly different note, I am looking into programming languages and trying to figure out the best to learn because I have way too much invested in my flight sim to have to put it away. Where there is a will there is a way, and a much better product will hopefully result once I have learned to write computer programs in whatever happens to be the best language. Not saying this will happen yet, but the idea is firmly planted in my head.

there is a flight simulator designed with the blind in mind by a slovakian guy, a translation is in the works for it, I've heard that it's very realistic.

yes, but that's for pc. not mac nad not iOS as far as this thread goes.

Why are people discussing flight sims for platforms other than what was asked about by the thread creator?

By Joseph on Sunday, October 23, 2016 - 11:14

my thoughts exactly. This thread disgussed flight simulators for iOS, not PC. This is not a general computing forum.

hiya guys, i too would love to have an accessible flight sim for ios. i'm afraid my iPads would keep running out of power! lol. i'd love for it to be as good as fsx / other sims on other platforms, but i'd be happy with even the beginnings of one on ios. how cool would it be to be able to reach out and actually run your fingers over the dials of information about your aircraft, as well as do menu driven stuff to control it perhaps, and for those times you want to actually take control, to be able to tilt your device to turn / increase / decrease angle of attack. mmmm.
