Cursor movement in conversation web content in messages

Here's another thing I've noticed in Sierra that I'm not sure is specific to my mac or not. In El Capitan in the notes field of the more info section in reminders, you could type text, but voiceover wouldn't read it so you were unable to also edit it. They have fixed that in Sierra, but it seems they've done the same thing to the web content for conversations in Messages now. You can read with VO-right or left arrow, but you can't read by character or word. So voiceover won't read anything when you try to select anything, even though it is actually selecting it. A VO-w to read current word and twice to spell it reads 3 or 4 words. It's very strange, and I'm not sure how it's going to work when someone sends me a link or file transfer. Anyone else having this issue? I'm planning to report it as a bug to Apple.

Hi,
Just to be clear, if we're talking about the standard Apple Messages App on a Mac then I have no troubles in Sierra.

Once I select a conversation from the Table, I navigate to where it says "Web Area" and VO Down Arrow to interact.
I can then move broadly through each of the messages in the thread using standard navigation.
If I find a message in the thread that I want to investigate further, maybe to perform a spell test like you described, activate a link or add an event to my Calendar, then I use VO Down Arrow to interact specifically with that message.
I can then spell individual words, activate links etc with no problem.

I wonder whether you are having troubles because you are failing to VO Down Arrow that second time?
