Good evening hope you're doing well.
Should I update to the new operating system? What bugs have you all encountered with VoiceOver?
Thanks in advance hope y'all have a great evening.
I see absolutely no reason not to upgrade, because iOS 10 actually has features in VoiceOver that didn't exist before. Firstly, you have the ability to put your apps into folders in an easier, more intuitive way. I was able to make the old way work by dragging stuff around the screen but it was not a fun experience. This new update changes all that and makes the experience a lot easier. Also, Apple has added a lot of new voices for VoiceOver, with the addition of Fred and Victoria only previously available on the mac, along with lots of other vocalizer voices like Tom, Allison, Ava, and other british voices like Oliver and Serena among others. As for bugs, I haven't really found any show stoppers accept for earlier in the day and I was able to solve those issues very quickly. This is probably one of the most stable upgrades Apple has put out for a first public release. I say public because there've been beta testers pounding on iOS 10 for months. They've done a real good job of squashing bugs. So I see no reason not to upgrade.
The new iOS is great, but I see many users reported that iOS 10 bricking their iPhone or iPad. Some reported that iOS 10 update failed. I suggest you to download iOS 10 just few days later and see if Apple will release a minor update to fix the issues or not.
When reading a table VO announces the row and column before reading contents. Irritating when elements are already labelled. Cant find a way to switch off this new feature.
Yes, this is annoying. Even when elements aren't labeled, I don't always need or want this information. We need some better verbosity controls, like what we have on MacOS.
I have reported three quite serious Voice Over bugs in Safari to Apple. If you have not yet installed ios10 I suggest waiting for 10.1 and hopefully the bugs will be fixed. At present, a number of web sites I frequently use are almost unusable with screen blanking, drop down menus unusable and VO going into a stuttering loop.
Remember, not everyone uses Safari on their phones or iDevices. So, I think a better way to make the recommendation is to say that if you use Safari a lot, and you don't want to hear all that extra verbage, stay with iOS 9 for the moment. I do believe in another thread that people had indicated that Apple made this change because a number of people wanted this extra verbage, but I guess none of them frequent this site, lol! Please just remember that not everyone uses their phone in exactly the same way as everyone else does. What may be a showstopper for you, may not even matter to someone else. This is why it's important to make sure that the person asking the question uses their phone the same way.
I did make it clear the bugs related to Safari, it is not just the unwanted verbosity that cannot be switched off but the bugs that render Safari unusable for some web sites. I am sure anyone reading my posts can make up their own mind whether this is a "show stopper" for them and don't need telling the obvious.
The over verbosity is for all web browsers or any app, like email, that has HTML, going by what was reported in the verbosity thread. I don't know that everyone's IOS 10 is having the issue, and I can't find anything saying this was a new feature.
Update if you want, but if you have this or any other bug, please report it to Apple.
Apple tell me they suspect there is something in the html code of some web sites that ios10 is handling differently that causes Voice Over problems in Safari. I have supplied Apple with links to problem sites I have found. If you have not updated to ios10 and you have specific sites you visit regularly, I suggest you try someone elses ios10 device then turn on VO to test if you can still access your favorite sites.
Hi all. Should I avoid updating my phone to iOS 10 if it is relatively old? I have a 5S and I really like the sound of some of the features in iOS 10. However, I remember a bad past experience when I updated an old 4S to iOS 8.
If anyone has any recommendations or experience, I would love to hear it. I will happily update my phone, if it can handleit!
I recommend you update to iOS 10. It has lots of new features. The iPhone 5s will support iOS 10 because it has an a7 chip. You might want to check out the redesign of Apple music. Also, the messages app is redesigned in iOS 10. Good luck!
I have ios10 on an iphone5c and it runs ok, however please see my comments above regarding Voice Over issues. Assuming Apple fixes these bugs then ios10 should be just fine on an iphone5.

You shouldn't have any problems since Apple released it again
You shouldn't have any problems since Apple released it again. There were some issues when it was first released. But, not you should be fine.

Not if you want to play mobbles! Those buttons still don't work, so if you're attached don't update!
