Hello all! Now that we are all in the process of digesting all of the new things with in the IOS 6. I am curious in what bugs you have found so far? Our goal is to compile a comprehensive list that we could perhaps send off to Apple for considerations in helping us for the next update for IOS 6. Together, I think we can do it! So I ask if you wouldn't mind in joining in with me and with all of all of you on AppleVis. To hop in and leave in what you have found together. I know in the past few days that a lot of remarks and regrets have been said. I can only hope we can forgive each other and slowly mend our community back together. As a united front in finding these bugs together will only help us make the next IOS 6 update that much better if you would kindly join in with us on this effort. Thanks so much and happy bug hunting!

This is an iOS 6 bug: sometimes when flicking left and right, the focus erroneously moves to the status bar items at the very top of the screen. Also, it affects Fleksy in that if you type something, move to the Fleksy menu and select Message, you'll be moved to the Compose message window. However, as VoiceOver is reading the empty "To" field, the focus strangely moves to the status bar items and you should return the focus to the composition fields manually. This is something Fleksy developers are fully aware of though it's the fault of iOS 6.
Hi! In ios 5 voice over would tell me how many new items were in my mail box. Now it doesn't tell me that in ios 6. I have to open up my mail box to see how many unread messages there are! I get my mail in my notifications, but if I clear my notifications, I like to be able to go to the mail icon on my phone and hear you have x amount of new items. I was very disappointed that IOS 6 doesn't give me that feature. Have any of you noticed the same thing here? But other than that I love IOS 6. They have updated some of the sounds settings to tell you the different vibration patterns etc. I would appreciate any responses to this comment.
Hello Dom, I have experienced this. For some reason, VO just seems a bit sluggish. Like it is a second or two slower in speaking when swiping in the messages app. It doesn't seem as responsive as it did in 5.1.1 anyway. It seems to delay when hitting the dictate button in addition. Any news on how this might be fixed? Would a full restore do the trick?

Hi. I'm in Ireland and iOS has chosen British English (Daniel) as my default voice. However I prefer the Australian voice (Karen) so switch to it. But whenever I turn VoiceOver off, when I turn it back on again it reverts to the default British voice. This also happens when I turn the device on. Also I've noticed that when composing a new message, touch typing is very sluggish. This is just with a new message, there's no problem in existing message threads.

- When using zoom and voiceover together on iPad, touch typing stops working, even when you exit zoom. You have to triple click home to turn voiceover off and then on again to get it working again. On iPhone touch typing starts working again once you exit zoom, so it seems to be just an iPad issue to me. - Zoom doesn't seem to zoom in as far in iOS6, ie. it has a lower maximum magnification level. Has anyone else noticed this? - When typing with zoom turned on, zoom's focus does not follow the cursor. Focus just sits in the top corner of the screen so you can't see what you're typing. This was also the case in iOS5 on the 3rd generation iPad, but on my old first generation iPad zoom focus did follow the cursor, at least in built in apps such as Notes and Mail.

This report is associated with playback using Bluetooth Headsets. The audio skips at various points of playback. Could not dupilicate the problem using earbuds (wiried). This was not an issue in IOS 5. There have been Bluetooth posts in the various forums regarding audio controls for use in automobiles. I don't klnow if this is a Bluetooth bandwith issue, ram, or just a previous bug they did not propragte into the new IOS, or just waiting for reports to build up and then fix it. Rebooting, reset of the hardward will probably not fix the issue, since I reset on another issue with Apple Tech support, but not sure this issue was present at that time. Replys, Advice welcome...

Hi all. First on the DND I've experienced on a friend's 4S, that if DND is on, phone numbers, such as my home phone which she did not have yet, went through even though she had it set to on. Second in the messages app, When I click a notification from a person who's been texting, the focus is either brought to the back button, the edit button, or just VO says messages. I also rebooted the phone, for the heck of it. Voice over became very choppy, to where I couldn't understand it until I locked, then started to unlock the screen. this was just me swiping across to slide to unlock and things like that. Hope most of these are filed and Apple fixes a few of these anyway.

Hello all! I have noticed on my IPhone 4S that I cannot label pictures or videos in my camera roll. Once I label the picture or video and press done or save the label does not show up when I go back to the camera roll. Also, all of my labels have disappeared prior to the Ios6 upgrade. Anyone else experiencing this?

By kathy on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

I have encountered the following bugs:

  • The labeling feature does not work at all and previously created labels on photos have vanished.
  • Voice Over loses focus when reading (particularly a series of links) and jumps to the top of the page.
  • Indicator tones such as those previously in the app switcher) are gone.
  • Voice Over no longer tracks on the table index feature in contacts. So it is no longer possible to use the table index to quickly flick through contacts. I have had to resort to using the search function.

By kathy on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

When I flick through dates on the "month" page in the calendar app, Voice Over says "no events" regardless of whether there are events scheduled. In IOS 5 V O would say "1 event, 2 events, etc. as I flicked past dates.

First, I never use the table index in contacts. Instead, I move by heading, which does the same thing as the index but more smoothly. If the table index is broken, this is another option for quick navigation. Second, I checked my calendar using my iPod Touch with the month view selected. I can touch or flick to a date, and the proper events are read, such as "Monday, September 24. Two events". I'm not sure why yours is not working. Third, I don't know about labeling elements. On the iPhone5, the "add to contacts" and "delete" buttons are unlabeled in the keypad tab of the phone app. I labeled the first with no problems, but the second did not seem to stick. I later returned to the phone app and found that my second label was in place and working fine. I have not yet had to label anything on my iPod.

Hi, thanks for the tip about headings in the contacts list, I hadn't realized this was an alternative to using the table index. I actually find this method of navigation much easier to use than the table index, as I found that navigating with the table index it is very easy to shoot past the letter you are looking for, and then when you tap on the screen to go to the first item in the list you end up at the wrong place anyway. Headings seem much quicker, and also there is no need to do any tap and hold gestures.
Hi guys, I have an iPhone 5, and I noticed some unlabelled buttons in the phone app. Does anyone know what these do? Thanks, Michael

Hi. I have no such problem with the table index. Alex, you don't need to tap and hold in table index, just put focus on table index and swipe up or down to go through alphabet. Much the same as using headings but without the hassle of finding it in the roter

Hey guys, Don't want to state the obvious but wanted to bring it up here as it helped me a gray deal. This is especially important if you participated in iOS betas prior to the official release of any version of iOS. If you have crashes or some strange behavior that you have not observed before, consider going to your settings->general->reset option. Then choose "reset all settings" and let iOS do its job. Yes, this does mean you will have to redo many of your VO and app settings but it's a remedy nevertheless. Hope this helps to some. Best, Vic

By Chris Bruinenberg on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

The unlabeled buttons are Add contact and delete. O did a reboot and it fixes the problem.

By crystal on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

hello! all i am not to sure who is having this problem. I have an i phone 4 and I noticed a few bugs with the new lovely i o s 6. When i go to open a message that has pictures attached to it and i tried to open the picture sometimes the picture opens and other times it does not. When the picture opens and it shows the action button but however when i go to click on it the action button does not click. Sometimes when i open the message the whole app freezes and i have to end it with the app manager. I just thought i would post this in case anyone else was having the same problem. so happy bug fixing apple!
Try this: 1. Lock your device, assuming you have a passcode enabled. I am using a simple, four-digit one for this test. 2. Unlock the device but pressing the power button and sliding or double tapping the "slide to unlock" slider. 3. Enter a number or two, then move your finger to the bottom right corner where the delete button is supposed to be. Not only is this now a cancel button no matter how few characters you enter, but once you touch it the device freezes for maybe 30 seconds before it suddenly starts responding again.

Hello, I updated to iOS 6 on the day of its public release. An immediate concern wormed its way into my experience with this update. When I compose messages in standard typing mode, my on-screen keyboard becomes extremely lethargic with VO. VO's responsiveness to my key presses seems even slower when I initiate the composition of a text message, as opposed to merely replying to such a message. Has anyone had this problem? I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks. :)
I also experienced the total Voiceover reset. I was very perplexed by this as well, but am grateful that it hasn't happened since.

By JoanneStark6 on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

I just noticed this yesterday on my iPod touch Fourth generation. When I play music, every other song starts to cut in and out for the first, maybe, thirty seconds to a minute or so, then it's fine. This does not happen on my iPhone 4.It didn't happen when I had IOS 5 on either device.Has anyone else noticed this problem?

Hi all, A little background first. After I updated my 16 gig iPhone 4S to iOS 6, once the phone came back on, all my apps were completely rearranged. Originally, I only had 2 pages of apps. But then, I had about 4. a full home screen, only 2 apps on page 2, some on page 3 and some on page 4. There may have been another problem too, but I can't recall what it was now if so. Someone suggested I reset my phone and restore the last backup, so I did. Unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. But the main issue I'm getting to is, when I went to sync my music back to my phone, iTunes would only sync 300 or so of my 1100 some odd songs. I did check the box that said sync entire music library, but it still doesn't. Someone told me this is happening for everyone, but I haven't been able to find anything on it. Anyone else seeing this? I've gotten 2 suggestions now. One, being to reset the phone again, but then treat it as a new device, instead of restoring from backup. And the other is to delete my music library altogether and redo it. Both sound like a hassle, but I'll try anything. Thoughts?
I have also had problems with the calendar, set in month view, reporting "no appointments" as I move from day to day, regardless of whether or not there are actually appointments that day. Of course, if I select the day, the appointments are listed. But I rely heavily on the "1 appointment," "2 appointments," and so on to determine the busiest or quietest days of a given week when browsing the calendar. If I go from month view into list view and back, it usually reverts to previously normal behavior of reporting the number of appointments after each date as I move through the calendar. This appears to fix the problem for the entire calendar, but if one closes the calendar app and re-enters, it returns to saying "no appointments" next to every day, regardless of there being appointments set for that date. Apparently, the visual display shows that there are appointments even when VO is reporting that there are none. I'm finding this absolutely maddening And I second (or 50th) dislike of the lowered voice pitch with American English. . FWIW, I'm using ios 6 on a 4S.

By Carla Campbell on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

(for the record, I'm using ios6 on a 4S.) There are quite a few things to like about the new Facebook app. I've run into one difficulty, and wonder if others know a trick I haven't yet learned. When reading through status reports, I arrive at the bottom of those displayed. I have been unable to scroll to see more status messages while Voice Over is on. I've found a work-around. I turn VO off, use a one-finger swipe from bottom to top, then turn VO back on, and additional messages are displayed. Is there a way to do this without deactivating VO? If not, "inaccessible Facebook controls" smells like a bug to me.

By Santiago on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

Hello, I can confirm the default voice setting bug being there.

The addition of the new apps "Passbook" and "Facebook" cause some re-arrangement of existing apps. Passbook is placed on the home screen, row 4, colum 4. This displaces whatever you previously had in that spot, shoving it onto a page all by itself. This page is inserted between your original home screen and your original "page 2," making what was previously "page 2" into "page 3," and so on. I don't know about any additional re-arrangement of apps, but this is probably why you have more pages of apps than you did previously, and why you have pages with one or two apps on them. It's kind of annoying, but easily fixed by moving the apps on the mostly-empty pages onto other pages. I'm still trying to figure out if I will use Passbook enough to warrant leaving it on the home screen, or if I want the app I previously had in row 4, col. 4 back there. But it's probably time I did some app-shuffling house-keeping, anyway.

OK, I have a braille display, well its the school's not mine, but anywans its an APH Refreshabraille 18, and I've found that, in the messages app, sometimes, happens mostly when I open it from the notifications center, the focus is amazingly awkards and the keyboard at first thinks the text field is a password field and them doesn't read updated text. Anyways, with the focus issue, when I press space with 4-5-6 to go to the end to find the send message button, it plays the VO Movement sound, but says nothing. There are other focus issues, but none that I've been able to reproduce a lot.

Hi, I have read the comments with interest but am wondering if these bugs are random. It seems bugs some people experience arn't a problem for someone else e.g. I can use table index in my contact list with no problems but I find the buttons on the qwerty keyboard work as if in sighted mode but other people don't seem to have this problem. If this is the case will it not make it a lot harder to rectify?

Hi Cherryl, I have found the same problem, the delete, return andmore letter/numbers button respond immediately, voice over does not read the button first. This leads to errors being made. This also applies to inputting password in app. store.

Do you mean when you mute it, or completely turn it off? Maybe they want to leave the sounds there wile its muted so you can no when you at the top of the screen and so on. I wunder?

Does anyone no if the bug is fixed where the voiceover sounds whent very soft when connecting to speakers using the headphone jack?

By marcus on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

Hello friends, I made a list of all bugs I could find and accessibility, I take the liberty of posting it here. Excuse me if something is wrong, but I tried to make the greatest number of tests possible to see that these are really serious bugs. These bugs happen on an iPhone 4. VoiceOver Bugs If you select an option on the rotor and then restart the iPhone, the rotor positions itself automatically in another option (there was in the iOS 5); VO incorrectly pronounced the word "Wi-Fi" in the settings (with the voice in Portuguese of Brazil); YOU can't read how many stars a particular app is in the App Store; YOU cannot read what are the apps related to what is being displayed (in the app store); There are 2 buttons that are not labeled in settings/music; The App Store for the iPad has some serious accessibility issues; When we are writing a new mail in Mail but need to cancel the same, jesto put 4 fingers on the top of the screen to go to the first item of the screen does not work. The VO simply makes a distinctive sound, but does not say anything and won't for the button "Cancel"; The jesto of 4 fingers on the bottom of the screen also no longer works when we are writing a new email in Mail.

By marcus on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

Hello, I noticed another bug. I do not know what is the cause of it, or if the bug happens with the VO disabled. When trying to enter very quickly an address of a particular website in Safari with my Apple wireless keyboard , are typed letters too, without I write them. I do not know if I explain properly, for this will give them an example: www.crackle.com If I try to quickly write the URL of this Website in the address bar of Safari with my Apple wireless keyboard, the address is more or less like this: www.wwwwwww.crackle.com or if I try to put only crackle.com is written more or less like this: ccrackkkkkkkkle.com Sorry if I haven't managed to explain properly. I own an iPhone 4 and the latest model launched the Apple wireless keyboard;

So I found the following bugs on the latest firmware.ILS – six. taking in to acount how fast the phone is, when coming out of apps, some times the hole device lags then performs all actions together. VO language settings revert back to UK English when voice-over is switched off all devices switched off VOO.focus, goes back to the top of the screen Feel Australian voice, completely messed up pitch Most importantly of all, the keyboard some of the numbers and letters don't read sometimes and all they give feedback is clicks Apart from the little box fantastic iOS
Hi, I too have noticed that when playing Hanging with Friends or other audio games including Stem Stumper, that audio is cutting out if voiceover attempts to speak. I tried turning the ipod touch on and off with no change. Apple received an email from me about this. From reading other posts though, I notice that some people have called them. I didn't know that was possible, since their website only gives an email address. How could I reach the appropriate department ? Thanks, Kim

By olgapetrovic on Sunday, September 23, 2012 - 11:36

Hi people, Firstly of all, I use an iPhone 4 16 gb and a new iOS6 update. Here are bugs that I have founded: If you put some other language, and turn voice over on or off US english will speak no matter what. Of course, that can be resolved we a rotor, for me is iritating. In facebook app, you can find buttons for example like or remove, but if you want to remove something from your wall, you put remove and anything happend. If you go in to your list of friends and try to search for somebody in particular, voiceover is reading anything. Also I had problem with rebooteing my Device. I hold the home and power key, and anything happend, or at least when something happend, iPhone reboote, but speech is lost. Has anybody experienced this also? And when speech is lost, All vo settings are lost also. The triple click home is not working, and All I can do is put an iPhone to a computer, and turn voiceover we a itunes. When I am using an Apple bluetooth keyboard, and when phone is in touch tiping mode, Voiceover is not reading. The keyboard works only when I put the tiping to standard. I have noticed also that the baterry is going much much more faster. Sometimes when I read some e-mails voiceover is magicly turned off and turned on... I'll write to apple also about all. Regards, Olga

Hey - I am having this problem since upgrading to iOS 6 and can't find anything about it anywhere so thought I'd post here!! Basically, since upgrading it seems any of my reminders that are set to repeat at a given time (be it fortnightly/monthly etc) show up in red as if not completed once the original reminder date has passed. There is also a little red circle with a number in it when viewing from the home page indicating an outstanding reminder. But it's not outstanding! It is just on a repeat reminder. This never happened in the previous version and frankly is quite annoying!!

By J.P. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - 11:36

On first tab with new releases, voice over reads links that aren't on page. Secondly, when you type multiple punctuation like 4 periods it used to read that way no problem. When you type three periods it reads as ellipsis now. So annoying when reading a page that has like twenty ellipsis
Hi, i've noticed that typing is a lot less responsive in IOS6. When sending a text it's a lot slower than it used to be in the previous version. Also, notifications i get seem to repeat themselves twice. Just a few bugs i've found.
Hi. For me at least, the typing bug is only when composing a new message, but it's fine in existing threads. So best to find the existing message thread for the person or pick one at random to type in and cut & paste. I do hope they get this fixed though.
I have had voice over turn off twice this week on my iPhone 4S. The first time it reset all of the voice over settings to the defaults, including touch typing. The second time it just turned off voice over. Both times tripple click would not work. I had to have someone go into settings and turn it back on. This is a very annoying thing when there is nobody around to turn it on for you. I reported it earlier this week.

By Cathy on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - 11:36

I have found that when I update an app, sometimes it takes several times for the update to process. The app will stay on my app update list for several days before it goes through.

By Cathy on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 - 11:36

I have problems when I have searched for something that returns many apps. For example, I searched for Knitting. The store returned over 100 apps. When I flick down through the different apps, when I get somewhere past the 50th, the flick will make VO crash and sometimes will turn it off. I reported this earlier this week to Apple.

Hi, I, too, can vouch for the choppy audio during game play. I have no idea why. Also, and while completely minor, I notice that if the iOS device is locked and the mute switch is put in either the up or down position, VO no longer announces 'muted' or 'unmuted'. The announcement comes only when the phone is unlocked. Can anyone else confirm? It's not a make-or-break thing, as I said, but I did notice the behavior, which is why I mention it.
Hello all, I have also noticed with iOS 6 that VO no longer announces 'muted' or 'unmuted' when the mute switch is flipped in either position and the screen is locked. An announcement will only be mae if the screen is unlocked. I am not sure why this is, (it by no means makes or breaks the user experience for me), nor am I sure if it is a bug or a feature, but I noticed it and so thought I would put it here.

Ever since I updated to ios 6 I have been having trouble with serie popping up unannounced and my music starts playing at the oddest moments even though I am not listening to any music. It wasn't doing these things before I upgraded so I assume that it is part of a ios 6 bug. I hope that they can fix it because it is so annoying.
