So, what's the deal with game Centre?

So, ever since I updated to iOS 10, I've realised that game Centre is no longer on my app list. I am still able to play games and I also appear to still have game Centre settings. Am I missing something, or does it have something to do with my region?

I read that Game Center no longer exists in IOS 10, for some reeson Apple decided to get rid of it: I gather there are other ways to invite people to play games now which used to have their invites done through Game Center, even though I can't remember what those new ways are. It's interesting that some apps still include Game Center, but maybe that'll change when they get updated in the future.

As an app,Game center was removed. As a service, what apple calls GameKit still exists. Apple has asked all developers to make sure that their app has options to either bring up the existing game center overlays for achievements, leaderboards etc, or pull the data and make a custom interface for it. Apps can still use it to track leaderboards and multiplayer games. What I don't know is if there's still a way to manage friends. In settings you have an option to delete your friend list, but I don't know if the overlay you get when inviting to a multiplayer game now has a list or are we just expected to memorise usernames. Perhaps it shows a list of recently invited people or still uses facebook for suggestions.
