Thanks for this, and would
Thanks for this, and would you say the doorbell itself is worth buying? I heard the audio was laggy and doesn't sound too great.
Ring Is Better
Funny you should post this now. My SkyBell Classic broke two weeks ago, and I replaced it with a Ring Video Doorbell. It's far better. Sounds nicer, the motion detection works better (motion detection on Ring notifies the app, and does not ring your physical doorbell, whereas on SkyBell, motion detection rang the doorbell, so you could never tell the difference between someone ringing the bell and motion outside the door), it works with IFTTT, and the physical unit is nicer. However! While using the app is just as accessible, setup of the Ring Doorbell is not fully accessible. First off, if ring fails to connect to your wifi, the troubleshooting screens are completely and totally inaccessible to you. Second off, when setting up motion detection with the Ring Doorbell, you are offered 6 "zones" that you can activate or deactivate motion detection for. These zones are shown in a picture, but neither within the app, nor anywhere on the Ring website, are these zones described in a textual format. However, assuming you don't need to do any troubleshooting, and have someone to help you set up motion detection, the rest of the Ring app works fine.
Thanks for this info.
We are thinking of a new door bell, and were thinking about this one as well as the Ring.
