Hi all, i have just purchased the knfb reader but i cannot seem to get alex or another voice to automatically read scanned text to me on my iphone 6 running ios 9,3,1, is this normal? if so its a huge oversight, and i also would have expected acapela and other voices to be made available, considering it is 80 pounds and no choice of vices to read with is in my view very bad. i have set my reading language to english uk yet no voice is available to read. are the company planning extra voices to be made available to read? hope someone can help.thank you

Re: Changing Voices in the KNFB Reader app
I believe the KNFB Reader app has its own voice that you cannot change. If you have the app automatically read the scanned text or if you use the navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen to read the next line, etc. then that is the only voice you get.
However, if you stop the automatic reading (usually with a two finger double tab), then you can navigate through the document using the standard VoiceOver gestures and hear the document read in whatever voice you have set in your iPhone.
I use an iPhone 6 running iOS 9.3.1 and that is how mine works.

voice
If I'm correct, KNFB Reader uses the speech API in iOS, so it's using the default system voices. However, I don't think it's possible to change the voice from Samantha. This is something the devs need to correct. The other poster is correct in that you can just use VoiceOver to read the text. Still, changing the voice would be a nice feature.
Only one voice for hundred bugs?
Only one default voice for hundred dollars?
I thought I dono how to activate the other voices. Smile.
Take care.
Raaj.
Voice
I think its a bug in ios. I have the same problem in any app. When select text or part of a text and use speek selection it uses the default voice to. While in settings its set on the advanced voice. Whit voice over, or speak screen it does uses the corrwect voice .I have this problem since ios 9.2 9 on all ios devices i own. It looks like knfb reader uses speak selection to. My low vision specialist told me knfb reader works with advanced voices on their device ( older version ios)
I believe this is a problem apple should fix
on Android, the KNFB Reader works differently
on Android, the option to use a different voice is in reading language settings. you would think, that the KNFB Reader team would build this fungsionality into iOS. it;'s rair that Android get's something iOS doesn't get. usually, it's the other way around. their should be people writing to the KNFB Reader support team, at support@knfbreader.com, to request this much overlooked enhancement.
voices
Android has far more customizable TTS options. This is why you can choose any installed engine and voice. At the very least, the iOS debs should be able to allow you to choose from all the available voices that Apple current provides to third party applications.
if enough of us email requesting this feature
if enough iOS users email the KNFB Reader team, we might get this resolved as it needs to be.
