Description: Boop Light Detector is an an app developed for iOS users (8.0 and above) to detect levels of light and interpret this information with sound. It allows its blind and visually impaired users to detect whether lights are on or off. It covers a broad range of light levels which span from sensing daylight through open windows to checking whether the indicator light is on for a wifi router.
The level of light detected by the phone camera is transmitted by a pinging sound. This sound increases its frequency and volume as the luminosity detected gets brighter. It also features an optional vibrate mode that buzzes with increasing frequency for brighter luminance.
Accessibility information: Boop Light Detector uses voice over features. Double click to exit the app. Use two finger magic scrub to turn vibrate on or off. Tap the center of the screen to get a reading of the luminosity in percentage units of 0-100. Use the volume controls at the side of the phone to change the volume of Boop or set it to mute.

Nice Job!
someone told me about this last week. What a nice, simple, and useful app with a clean, no nonsense interface!
Thanks for a tool like this.

Thanks.
A nice, useful app.
Suggestions
Great start. I really like that the app is indicating the level of light with vibrations. I've noticed that it says dimmed after reading the percentage. If this can be fixed, it would be great. Also, in order to detect how much of an increase in light, I would recommend making the sound constant. Another suggestion is having the ability to switch between vibrations/sounds, or just vibrations, or just sounds. Also, it would be nice if you could control whether the percentages are read out automatically or you would double tap on the screen. Sometimes, I like to just listen to the sounds rather than hearing percentages.
Thanks and once again great work.
Color of light detection
Hi, I just downloaded this app and think it's a very awesome app. I feel that the beep/pings could be quite a bit louder as I had to turn my phone all the way up just to hear them. I have a feature request that would be neat if it was added. What if it could tell us the color of the light that it was looking at? For instance, your router example earlier. It could tell you whether the light was red or graeen. Thanks again for such an awesome little app.

Boop is the best!
I can't even say how great this ap is. When there is no sighted person in the home sometimes the lights get left on from visitors.
I downloaded the ap and discovered my kitchen light was on and probably had been for days.
Thank you sooo much for this!
