Using VO plus F to search documents

Hello all,
How do I use VO plus F to search a document in text edit? I purchased a book from NBP in text format. I am trying to read it in text edit but I am having a hard time using the find command to search the book. When I press VO plus F, I type in my search term and then press VO plus Space and nothing seems to happen. I try moving around with VO let and right arrows but all I get is the donk sound letting me know that command does nothing. I know the words I am searching for are there because I can find them easily with my text editor on my windows machine. Thanks for any help on this.

Regards,

Vo-space will activate a button, link, menu item, etc in focus. For searching, vo-space is trying to activate the text you just typed, which won't do anything. You want to press enter, which will search for your text. Remember that, once you search once, vo-g will search for the next occurrence, while vo-shift-g will do the same but will search backwards.

Hello,
This worked like a charm. It is a bit confusing to know where to use return or to use VO plus space. This is one of those things it is going to take a bit of getting use to after using Windows for so many years. I also found that I have to use return when in the address bar of Safari.

Is there any way to do such a search without a keyboard - i.e., using only gestures and/or dictation on, for example, and iPhone?

Thanks.
