Hello guys!
I am new here, and since I couldn't find an introduction area, I'll just do it here :-).
I have recently bought the new AppleTV 4th gen. A few days ago, I found out, that there already is an app called MRMC.
MRMC is an app based on the mediacenter Kodi. As some of you might know, there already is an accessible version of Kodi for the computer.
Unfortunately, MRMC is not accessible at all. I have already posted in their forum on
www.mrmc.tv
but haven't got an answer yet. So, if you are interested in using MRMC on your AppleTV, maybe you can post there too. Maybe, if more people ask them for accessibility, they will build it in.
Since we have only Plex as an alternative, I think that would be a good idea.
Thanks.

Is Kodi and MRMC the same thing?
Hello,
I know that there is a Kodi app that you can side install through Xcodes from a Mac onto the AppleTV fourth-generation for free... I looked up this MRMC app, and it's $6.99… Are these two apps pretty much the same thing? And I didn't know if the Kodi app is accessible with voiceover on Apple TV… Didn't want to go through the hassle of all the work to install it if not…. Has the MRMC app ever been updated to be accessible? It's been about seven months since your post… Or if anyone else is reading this, and can help me out, please do… Been trying to find something about Kodi on AppleTV and excess ability...
Thanks a lot
Hi.
Hi.
Unfortunately, MRMC is still not accessible. Noone in their forum answered me so far. I pretty much gave up on this app. If you want to have easy access to your videos and music through your network, I can suggest VLC. It works good and is accessible. The only disadvantage is, that VLC doesn't do seamless playback. That is especially bad, if you want to listen to an audioplay, that is devided into different tracks. Sinse I dont have a better solution for that so far, I use Kodi on my computer and airplay the content with Airfoil to my ATV. It's not fully ideal, but, as far as I know, it's the best combination possible.
Plugins
Does either Kodi or MRMC support Kodi plugins? Remember that the Kodi app itself was not made directly accessible via any screen reader, but rather a plugin that essentially provides a miniature screen reader for Kodi. If either of these apps can take Kodi plugins, it would probably not be too difficult to add Apple TV support to the plugin and have it work the same as it does on Mac or Windows.
Plugins
MRMC does not support plugins. About the other version, that you can install through sideloader, I am not sure. But I presume, that this version does support plugins, sinse this was the main reason, why this "unofficial" version was developed in the first place, as far as I know.
Unfortunately, I can't test that, since I don't have a mac.
Well
I have a Mac, but no TV and thus no Apple TV. Still, someone with both ought to be able to check.
Mac
Maybe, I will have access to a mac in a few months. Then I can check. But I don't know for sure yet. I don't even know, if the developer of the Kodiscreenreader plugin still works on this project. Maybe, there is a chance to contact him/her, to ask, if it's even possible, to make this plugin work for the AppleTV...
Screen Reader Plugin
The Kodi screen reader plugin is open source, so it could be worked on by anyone with the knowledge of Python and TVOS APIs.
