Hello folks. As the subject line says, I'm having a whole lot of trouble adding some custom ringtones to iTunes withthis new Windows 10 pc. A couple of real important notes...
1. Remember, this is a brand new install of iTunes, and I do have an iTunes backup. I thought that was a good idea.
2. I've added the custom ringtones to iTunes and they show up in the tones list, so they've successfully been imported. Now here's where it gets very confusing for me. In older versions of iTunes, there was a sync selected ringtones radio button, but that seems to have been replaced by a sync tones checkbox. So when I check it, I receive the following message... are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, tv shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? music, movies, tv shows, books, and tones synced to your iPhone from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced with this iTunes library.
this message is followed by a remove and sync button, or a cancel button.
Remember, this is a new, never used iTunes library. I should mention that I'm using Window-eyes 9.4 in Windows 10, and my iTunes version is the latest update. I'm not sure what to do. I've tried to be as clear and as concise as I can here. All I really want to do is get these new ringtones onto the iPhone with the others I've already got. I fully realize that this is mostly an Apple-related site, so I'm hoping I haven't overstepped anything here. If anyone knows where i'm going wrong, I'll take any ideas you guys have.
Thanks!

This is probably already obvious to 99.9%of most people, but leave it to me to not be in the know. Through a bit of talking to some folks about this issue, I realize I forgot to back up my iTunes library from my Windows 7 machine. In most cases this doesn't matter, but iTunes is a difficult beast. I'm sure Apple has a reason for this but it seems you can't have more than one iTunes library associated with a device. My iPhone 6 is backed up both in iCloud, and, as I mentioned, on my Windows 7 machine. I would have to plug it back in, figure out where the iTunes backups are stored, and put the right one in somewhere like dropbox or an external drive. I'm not sure if doing all that is worth the trouble. I just had to put this out here especially for folks getting new computers. If you do custom ring tones, back up your iTunes library and put it where you can get to it.
