Hello there, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar issue?
If I type words such as now, not, or non, it pronounces them as "no". If I was reading a selection of text with VoiceOver and one of these words was involved, it would sometimes pronounce it as "no", and then take a short pause before returning to normal speech. I can't be the only one can I? What is this it's very annoying?
Does anyone else experience this?

i've heard about this...
I'll just bet you're using the Daniel voice, right? If so, this, unfortunately is a bug that's been discussed here before but there doesn't seem to be a fix. The only suggestion I can make is to use a different voice until the bug can be squashed.
Yes, I am using that voice.
Yes, I am using that voice. Oh right, okay, I suppose I can learn to deal with it as this is now the voice I'm used to and it'll take me weeks to get used to a new one. Thank you.
Similar
You could try the Siri male voice for the United Kingdom. It is probably the most similar one to Daniel.
Possibly, you could have
Possibly, you could have predictions on and you start to type "now" and after the letters "no" of the word "now", word predictions thinks your wor to be completed with the space, will be "no". Unless this has happened after inserting a space. Try turning predictions off. If it still happens, i's got to be Daniel. Whenever I enter my address, and I type W. for West then a street name, Daniel reads another word. Do like the previous commentor said and use the British male Siri voice.
VoiceOver Pronunciation issues
Hi,
I've been trying out the various voices throughout this last week, and found that the Daniel voice, definitely has the most issues with saying different words, including the word love, which he seems to say as live. I emailed Apple in regards to that issue, and they told me that they're working on it, but couldn't say when this will be fixed, considering this has been going on for quite some time now, I guess they had a point when they said that, although I'd hope maybe in iOS 10 Daniel would improve.
As for comments regarding using the other voices, I will warn you that the UK Siri voices all have this issue, at least on iOS. So, if you want to use a UK english voice, I'm not saying don't and wait for the fix, but I'd advise you to probably just wait for the fixes, and use the voices if you still like them, and try to look past the few words they say wrong, considering it would be ages before we see a fix to one voice at least, not even thinking about all of them at the moment.
VoiceOver Pronunciation issues
Using "Samantha" Voice I have noticed that VoiceOver changes words (For Example - If a word has a "-" before it i.e "- Rock" VoiceOver says "- Nock").
UK Siri Voices
I have to say I have not noticed this issue with UK Siri voices. It's definitely present with Daniel, no doubt about that, and the live issue with love has been going on a good while now. In fact I would say that Daniel is regressing as an option, not improving, though this might be a Nuance issue rather than an Apple issue. UK Siri female I find is very good. I use the male for my Siri voice and he also seems nice and clear.
hilarious UK Siri female bug!
Discovered this last night by accident. With UK Siri female turned on, compose an i'Message and type the word sigh. I shan't spoil what happens for you. Doesn't work when you're reading the message back, only when you're typing. i was using Braille screen input, contracted. I suppose technically this is a bug, but who cares?
No. Nothing happens. What do
No. Nothing happens. What do you mean?
she sighs
Well, she should do anyway. I don't know how I did it.
Samantha needs some work too.
Samantha needs some work too. She pronounces a capital b with what sounds like a capital e. She also says torwado instead of tornado depending on if you capitalize the t or not.
Mispronunciation of directions in GPS apps very distracting
The mispronunciation of directions when using GPS apps with Daniel is very distracting. For example, when encountering "N" he says "Newtons" instead of "north". When concentrating on getting somewhere this is disturbing. Would switching to the English voice solve this issue?
Thanks.

Most of the items raised here could be manually overwritten with the pronunciation dictionary, where it's possible to add *any* phrase and define how it should be spoken by iOS 10 speech.
Addendum to direction mispronunciation post
I am currently using Daniel, isn't that the U.S. voice?
Thanks again.

Re: VoiceOver Mispronunciations
The oddest one I've seen is what VoiceOver does to the word "defeat." VoiceOver says "defeature." This word comes up often enough in articles about sports or politics that I'm surprised no one else has pointed it out.
Never encountered that one
What voice are you using when this happens? Need to laugh at my phone by reproducing that one.
