Hi everyone!

This is Yushu from the Roger team. Thanks so much for all the support you have been giving us, and for helping us make Roger so VoiceOver accessible over the past few months. We maintain a simple three button interface- with one tap, you are able to speak for an unlimited amount of time and we place really high emphasis and importance on our audio quality.

We would love to hear what you guys have to say about Roger, so please feel free to leave a comment or suggestion right here. We are working towards being even more VoiceOver accessible, with the help of the great community over here :) If you do not know about us yet, then do check us out at https://rogertalk.com/ or drop us an email at hello@rogertalk.com. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

@roger loving todays update! I've tryed voicemail and now I can hear all of my mist message right from within roger. this is totally amazing!

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

I actually disabled voicemail after receiving some. I don't like the quality as I can hear the artifacting and it drove me nuts. Also I think the messages only played partially through before it cut off. I think I'll just stick to visual voicemail and use a tool I have for exporting them. Good feature but this time, not for me.

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hey to all. Just letting you know the groups have a limit of 22 members. We found this out the hard way on a group I'm a part of. I know unlimited is not possible, but can the number be raised slightly? I hate to tell people to leave. What we are doing is telling the inactive ones to leave assuming they hear the message in the first place. What you could also do is maybe let the inactive know via a push notification that if they have not posted let's say in 2 months they will be kicked off the group automatically or what not. This might decrease server load a bit. Thoughts?

By Roger on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

@KE7ZUM Oh no that's not supposed to happen. Can you send me your public Roger link so that we can investigate what's going on? :

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

I would but the groupis not mine, and I can no longer find the envite link in the menu. I can ask the group owner to email the link to you so you can see what's happening.

By Roger on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

In reply to by KE7ZUM

@KE7ZUM Hmm, was the group share link there before? And now it's no longer there?

By Jesus R on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi all,
In the latest update, I can no longer seem to find the weather next to the microphone button, either while talking or when just sitting on a persons conversation. What happened? I know someone who was saddened by the news. Its a good converstation starter. I for some reason thought there was some kind of roger bot too? No idea. I love roger! I got yet unother friend to join the roger party!

By Roger on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi @Jesus_R!

Yup, that was a bug that we were experiencing and we have fixed it in the latest version (1.1.7) :) Thanks for getting your friends onboard. For even more fun, you can try creating groups with them as well :)

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

In reply to by Roger

Yes. I can't share it, and someone else tried to share it to give to you and they can't do it either. Are you able to search for the group in your data base? If so I can direct message you via twitter the name of the group and you can see what's going on. We're maxed out at 22 members and I've heard there are people who want to join. What the owner has been doing is asking the inactives to leave. She hates doing that by the way.

By Roger on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

In reply to by KE7ZUM

Hi again @KE7ZUM! We're really sorry that the owner had to go through that :/ However, we have fixed that bug and now you can add up to 40 members :) Could you please let her know about the fix? :) Thanks!!

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hey @roger loving the follow up update. roger is the best platform for everyone to communicate. what would be nice is instead of voiceover saying, "talking" or "listening right now," it should say, "@ <name> is talking/listening right now." that would be nice.

By rdfreak on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

It doesn't matter how VO reports things, I just hope that the Roger developpers can understand the frustration of the push notification promts every time we open the app and every time we send a message.

By kool_turk on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Is there a way to see the groups you're a member of, even when you've hidden them?

There doesn't appear to be an easy way of unhiding conversations, unless you actually memorise peoples handls or groupnames, unless I'm missing something.

By Joseph on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

I've never had that problem with roger, and i set everything to not display a banner or anything.

By David Standen on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi all. I have been using this app since Monday and absolutely love it. Audio quality is excellent. I do not raise the phone to my ear to listen or speak. When travelling, I use earphones.

Hello again, @KE7ZUM thank you for help, now everything works well, I could connect all services I wanted. Greetings :)

By Tristan on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

hey, what an amazing app Roger is. Just want to give a huge shout out to the developers for implementing access ability and responding to feedback so quickly. thanks so much for making such an awesome app so accessible and easy to use.

By Jesus R on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi. Loving the latest update to Roger. A few ideas. 1. Could you let users set the time before the second notification of someone talking to you is sent, from 10 to 30 minutes, perhaps in five minut steps? I don't forget someone messaged me, I'm just out and about and having my phone tell me someone talked to me within 10 minutes is sometimes a bit much, when I'm going to respond just as soon as I get off a bus. :)
2. I love the featured groups, but could there be a toggle in settings to hide them? Sometimes all i want to do is get to my contacts.
Lastly, I love roger on my iPad, but I use it a lot in landscape mode, is there any way you guys will update the app to work in landscape anytime soon, and maybe make the mic and listen buttons just a bit bigger? I'm using my iPad mini, and there's a lot of screen, with the mic button just a half finger away.
Sorry for such a long post. I love what you guys are doing, and I talk to my friends a lot more because of roger. Its much easier to message someone while walking now then it was with text messages.

By Earle on Sunday, June 26, 2016 - 15:17

I have been beta testing this app for quite a while now. I love it! The app just gets better and better. I think it would be awesome if you would include a search for groups feature. I like the featured groups section but it would be nice if we could actually search for groups.

Hi! This is Yushu from the Roger team. Sorry for the accessibility issues with the latest version (1.2.3) pushed out a few hours ago. We're working on a fix right now, but a quick solution would be to create a conversation and the issue will go away. Sorry about that!

Hello,
I am not able to create a new conversation with this newest update. I can't do anything with this newest update. When I double tap on things, they no longer open up like they use too. I am a Voice Over user. I hope an update is released soon to fix this update. As of right now I can not use this Roger app at all. Thank you.

By Toonhead on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi, especially to the Roger team! I'm in a few groups, one of them is quite busy so I've muted the notifications for it but I still go back every so often and listen to all the posts. I've noticed that it takes a few steps to mute notifications for a group, and also, there's quite a bit of a jump in the times they can be muted. It seems to go from 8 hours, to a week. Could we maybe have other choices like 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 5 days etc? There may be times when I want to mute a group, but somewhere inbetween a day and a week. Also, could you possibly make it easier to get to the mute options, possibly making use of the actions rhotor? For us VoiceOver users, this is a gesture where you swipe up and down with a single finger, and a menu with different options appears. This way, you could reply to a message, mute the group, leave the group, etc. It would just make things a little easier than first having to double-tap and hold, swiping over to the more option, and muting things. or, is this done by design so people aren't muting things when they don't want to? Let me assure you that if you implemented this it would make my life about a billion times easier! All the options would be clearly explained so a VoiceOver user could swipe down in the menu, choose the option they want and then do a single-finger double tap on that option and then it gets activated. I hope I've explained this ok. If I haven't, let me know and i'll try to clarify as best as I can! I'm loving Roger a lot and it's becoming an app I'm using every single day!

By David Standen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Like Lisa, I also cannot use the latest update. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the app twice but to no avail. Selecting a person or group to respond to doesn't work, nor does double tapping the microphone or the "listen" button. I have also run into the issue of messages disappearing from the group I created a few weeks ago. I also wanted to edit my account by removing my email address but the help I was given to resolve this problem didn't work. Would it be possible to access messages that have gone missing by double tapping and holding on the speech bubble? Then we could listen to messages we have missed and skip over the ones we have already heard. Up until today, I have used Roger every day since installing it for the first time but I won't be using it again until the accessibility issues have been resolved.

By David Standen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

A short while ago, I was informed by a sighted user of Roger that the appearance of the app has changed with this latest update. The only thing I can do with Roger right now is to listen to messages by raising the phone to my ear. I find this unsatisfactory, particularly if I have a bunch of messages to listen to. I hope these issues can be resolved asap.

By Unregistered User (not verified) on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Unfortunatelly I am experiencing the same issues with Roger, I can't do anything, I can't record or listen to messages, I can't access settings etc. hope this bug will be fixed soon.

By Earle on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

I have found a way to get passed the tutorial but it is a bit of a long work around though. I will post the steps below though in case anyone wants to do it. Otherwise, all you can do is wait for the update. I am currently beta testing this, but I went back to the public release just to see if I can figure out a way to work around the current issue. Here are the steps.
1. Close Roger from the app switcher.
2. Open Roger, but don'ttap on any conversations or buttons.
3. Press the add button. You will see the options to view public groups or start a conversation. at this point, just hit the cancel button.
4. Close the app from the app switcher.
5. Open Roger again. Don't tap on any buttons or conversations.
6. Tap the conversations members button. If you are in a group you will see a list of members. If not, you will see only the person you are speaking with. In either case, just press the back button.
7. Once again, close Roger from the appswitcher. Open Roger again, and everything should be working as expected.

I have tried this method on both my iPad and iPhone. It worked for me both times. It is a pain, but at least you can still use Roger until the update comes out.

By Matthew C on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

I heard back from the Roger team when I emailed them. When they set up a tutorial it broke the usability wit VO. They are aware of this and have apologized and are working to get a fix out soon.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Cool. As always they rock. I'm a beta tester so fortunately I don't have these issues, besides I'm ow using it with voiceover off. We will not go into why here. I'm testing something with the app. Lol! Hopefully they will rush out an update as soon as they do what ever needs to be done. It's good to know they know what's up and will fix the app asap.

By Roger on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi all, please update Roger for the fix :)

By Matthew C on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

In reply to by Roger

The app works again perfectly. I gave it a short test and was able to select a person and send a message.

By Toonhead on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

The app works beautifully once again. I'm not sure if you saw an earlier post on this thread, but I had some questions about changing the time that we can mute notifications, and a possible easier way to make it easier to do things like mute notifications, leave a group, reply to a message, etc. If you need more clarification, the message is a ways up in the thread. Thank you again for making the app work so well!

By David Standen on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Everything is fine with Roger again at this end. I appreciate you guys coming out with a fix so quickly.

By Chris on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi,

Would it be possible to create a version of Roger for OS X? My Mac is used far more than my iPhone, and if I could access all my Roger chats and features from my primary device, i would enjoy this service even more.

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi @ChrisWright in the future they will be expanding to other platforms such as mac and windows. right now they are currently making the iOS app even better. and their's a surprise coming to roger. I cannot tell you what iyt is, but you guys should stay tuned!

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

hey @roger I've notice the groups limit has been raised. is that true? can you add an unlimited number of members? I remember when you could only add up to 45 members, but I'm guessing now that's no longer the case, as you could add up too how many members you want. also, A feature that I request is the ability to record Live. for example, Zello, the ptt app has the ability to record Live the moment the user hits the ptt button so, the moment the user taps or dubble taps on the microphone, the message is recorded Live for others in a group or for single members to hear in real time. also, I'm totally enjoying the featured groups feature. I especially love the say hello group, I wish their was a musicians or music group in the featured groups section so that way I could joyn the group. I will continue to spread the word on the app to my friends.

By Siobhan on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 - 15:17

Irish_storm or my email that I have here. Thought some of you might want to chat as i have only one person I talk too. If the beta team ever needs another tester I'd love to help, just ofering :)

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Monday, December 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hello all. A few changes. the featured groups, talk heads, and the "talk with us" button are all gone. guess they had to update the interface. anyways, still enjoying the app. I hope the @roger team is listening to our posts. haven't herd from the team in like forever. they used to reply quick, but now, it's scilent. why? hello?

By KE7ZUM on Monday, December 26, 2016 - 15:17

Their twitter is for announcements only as of November 4. I guess reply to them via the feedback email they have in settings. I'm actually glad the tock heads are gone. I hated using them. Good idea, but implemented wrong in my humble opinion.

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Monday, December 26, 2016 - 15:17

@ke7zum I did, but no reply. guess their busy. Will keep trying. lol. Yeah, I didn't like the talk heads neither. glad it's gone. also, the siri function isn't their. I checked under supported apps and roger isn't showing up anymore.

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Monday, December 26, 2016 - 15:17

Hi all,
I have great news! I wish to report that the Roger team finally emailed me as of this morning, and it looks like they are getting back on track! Their is currently a bugg that has 2 membors. 1 which is a conversation membors button, the other one is just text. They said that they will fix the bugg in next update.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, December 26, 2016 - 15:17

I don't have that bug, but I never swipe, I explore by touch so I never saw that issue that many of you saw.

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Monday, December 26, 2016 - 15:17

@ke7zum aw that explains it. They also emailed me regarding the stereo recording feature, and they will be adding it soon.

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, February 26, 2017 - 15:17

Sad to say that I think roger has gone by by. They left the UK app store, they say they are looking into this, and I filed a bug with them and got the canned response "We'll look into this" I took about 30 minutes to upload 118 mb of logs from my phone. Some how I don't think "we will look into this." as now they are making a business only app who's name I have forgotten. I think they are more focused on that, sad really.
