Hi all, when will the new IOS6 be released for download. My assumption is that it will be released tomorrow at the press conference.

My understanding is that tomorrow will be the Gold Master release. Which basically means those with the developers status will be able to obtain the Gold Master at that point. The public however will not recieve the IOS 6 until next week. No later than when the first day of the iPhone 5 will be sold. Apple never let anyone know of the actual date. So at this point nobody knows for sure. Historically they have been known to release to the public several days prior to the actual phone release. So it could be from Semptember 19-21st time frame.

Just to add to that, we don't even know when the phone itself will be released, it could be october for all we know. We'll find all the information out tomorrow. september 21 was just rumors.
Trust me, when iOS 6 is released you won't be able to get away from it. Applevis and other blogs will be talking about it, I fully expect twitter and facebook to become over capacity tomorrow, so hang tight. When it gets here, we will all know and a lot of the questions will be answered tomorrow at 1 PM EST.
One place that I know without a doubt that'll have coverage is twit.tv. you can find the listen link on the twit.tv website, and you can listen on your pc or your iDevice too, but for best results, start listening at about noon eastern time. It sounds crazy, but I've had situations where I had tuned in to hear previous apple eventsthrough twit, but I turned off the stream. Bad move there...but when I tried to tune in again I was told that the server for listening had been maxed out. So tune in and stay tuned in if you want to get all the details.

I like to listen to the TWIT AM feed. You can get the link at www.twit.am - it opens up in iTunes and is very low bandwidth, so tends not to drop.
