I have been seeing this bug During my use of El capitan. Again it is more of an irritant than anything. I have sent bug reports as part of my BETA testing.

I just command tab away from and back to the app store. No issue really. Just an inconvinence. Hopefully in osx 10.12 they will fix it. Remember you have like 2 months to report bugs as they have already by now started working on osx 10.12, they probbly started January of this year.

Same here, though the bugs do seem to be greater in number. I swapped from Windows around 3 years ago,, that was mountain lion which was pretty bug free> It feels like they are going down hill in that respect. I often wonder if they actually have testers with the relevant disabilities to test their software. I think not. It is sad really, because there is already some movement away from Apple and I can see that getting greater.

Hi everyone. I have also been encountering this a lot lately, but a workaround that I've found is to turn VO off and then back on again within a minute or so. Otherwise, the App Store is totally usable and accessible on my end. I still can't navigate via character when QuickNav is turned off, but that doesn't bother me. Still, an official fix for this focus bug would be awesome.

That works well Jake and as you say easy from there on. A fix would be great but they don't seem to be as efficient as they once were.

They to me are very officient. I know of 2 blind testers who work at apple HQ. but not everything is perfect. I bet this will be fixed in osx 10.12 so we just have to deal with it.

This bug seems to be somewhat fixed on my end, but not totally. Last week I installed some updates, and I was able to do so straightaway on both days without toggling VoiceOver off and then on again. But just a minute or so ago when I went to "About this Mac" and then clicked on the button for updates, I had to turn VO off for about a minute before turning it back on. So I think we may be starting to see a fix here. Just wanted to update y'all. When this bug totally goes away on my end I will come back here.

I just command tab away from and back to the app store. No need to restart voiceover. I have a keyboard shortcut set up in voiceover to launch the app store then I just hit cmd plus numrow 5 then just command tab away and in a few minutes command tab tab to the app store

If you want to hear the suggestion, here is an audio file of the work around.

I just updated yesterday to the latest iTunes, which is something like 12.5 . I've noticed that not only does this App Store bug seem to be fixed for good, but now the Updates tab has sort of a new look. I noticed this when updating iTunes yesterday, and then going back to see what the changes and enhancements were. So everything seems to be good now at least on my end.
