Hi I was wondering if there was a way with the current mail app or another mail app to view and edit my email without having it downloading it on my phone. The mail app that comes preinstalled on my phone seems good however I do not like how there is a trash folder. What I'd want and I don't think it is possible would be for the email to be deleted fully from my phone, and go to the trash on the Gmail server. If that isn't possible managing my email online through an app instead of downloading to my phone would be the next best option if it exists. Any help would be great!

Yes, the app will let you do what ever you want. With the default mail app you can't see any profile pictures in any conversation, but you can do that with the gmail app. With the gmail: email from google app you can directly respond to calendar invitations. However, the default mail app lets you add the event to your calendar. Then you would have to go to the calendar app in order to respond to that event.
