tvOS and Apple TV Apps

Hi guys,
Do you think we need an Apple TV app directory for the Apple TV?
I just came across this 5 minutes ago. We have an iOS App Directory, a Mac App Directory, and an Apple Watch App Directory, so why not put in aApple TV app directory as well.
Put your thoughts down below.
Best Regards,
Tunmi

I think that having an app directory for Apple TV would be a tremendous benefit. I have Hulu, HBO Now, Netflix and Youtube, but apart from those apps, I honestly don't know what is out there that is accessible and worth using. I'd be especially interested in accessible games for the Apple TV, and of course, I'm waiting for an Amazon Instant video app to become available, although I'm honestly starting to lose hope of ever seeing that one. Anyway, I the app directory is a great idea, and I think a lot of people would benefit from it.

I agree. It would be nice. I'm seen podcasts about apps and stuff on the Apple TV but I would like too that there would be an Apple TV app directory.

It’s something that is planned, but on hold until Apple makes it easier to locate and share information on Apple TV apps.

Currently, the only place to find information on the majority of apps is on the Apple TV itself. Compare this to Mac, iOS and Apple Watch apps, where Apple has web-based directories. Also, in the case of those apps, it’s relatively easy to get the information that you need when submitting an app to our App Directory from the App Store app on your Mac or iOS device.

Perhaps even more important is the ability to check that submitted information on an app is accurate and complete. When this can be done via the Web it is relatively straightforward. When it can only be done on an Apple TV, it is not. In cases where the app is only available in certain countries, it can become impossible to check.

Fortunately, Apple appears to be close to addressing this problem, as in the past few weeks it has begun to roll out web-based information on selected Apple TV apps. Based upon how they are doing this, it would seem that they plan on having a web-based directory of all Apple TV apps (similar to the existing ones for iOS and Mac apps). We are hoping that this is in place soon.

In the meantime, the dedicated Apple TV area of our forum is available for seeking and sharing information on Apple TV apps.

I don't think you're going to find an Amazon Instant Video app, because why would Amazon put out an app that is in direct competition with their TV product? I'm afraid for now you're going to have to use the iPhone app or the Mac and Airplay it to your AppleTV.

Any update on when we may see a TVOS App Directory here on AppleVis? I imagine it will be some time (if ever) before the TVOS App Store becomes as detailed as the iOS and MacOS app stores, so I hope that we aren't holding off on a TVOS App Directory waiting for improvements to the app store that may or may not come.

Apple Watch released April 24th, 2015
AppleVis Apple Watch Directory available June 26th, 2015 - 63 days after product release

Apple TV available October 26th, 2015
No Apple TV App Directory as of July 27th, 2016 - 275 days after product release

Unfortunately there remains no easy way for people to access and share information on Apple TV apps or for us to check the accuracy and completeness of that information (even something as simple as to ensure that the name of the app is correct).

In the case of the Apple Watch, information on apps was readily available from day one in a form that was both easy to share and to check.

So, although it is not the answer that you were looking for, it is unlikely that we will be adding a dedicated Apple TV app directory in the immediate future. Until things change, the best way to seek and share information on these apps is in this forum.

I read Applevis response above, however, I am still a little confused as to why one wouldn’t work. This site seems to do just fine with one http://stats.twivel.tv

I'm sorry, but those who choose to download antyhing from here, have a craps shoot. In otherworks what works for Joe won't work for sam, based on accessibility, I've always believed that we relie to heavily on what works for you, works for me. I say give the directory a shot: if you download something, dislike it, why is it aplevis's fault, it isn't. but then again I am in a community who loves to blame the persom who put it there in thefirst palce: i.e. you said it was accessible, it isn;t, so there! Let's be honest, some of us live by that coe. Guys submit it, put all the disclaimers you want about it's your choice, you know someone's gona blame you anway lol. seriously, jst jump off the dock, put it up, we're all adults, no one's maing us download a darn thing. So suck it up, if you hate it, delete the stupid app. Just sayin' from someone who's sick of seeing the half assed, yes it is but no it isn't entries from almost everyone. Just get the gentleman's parts, balls, to put itup and walk off.
