Getting voiceover to talk again after crash

Sometimes Voiceover will randomly stop talking. It seems to happen alot whilst browsing through long lists like my text messages. I can still hear the click sounds when I swipe left or right. Pressing the home key 3 times to turn it off and back on again doesn't help. The best way atm I have found is to lock the phone and wait for a minute and it starts to talk again. Is there an easier way to reboot Voiceover when this happens? Thanks
