Hi everyone!

This is Yushu from the Roger team. Thanks so much for all the support you have been giving us, and for helping us make Roger so VoiceOver accessible over the past few months. We maintain a simple three button interface- with one tap, you are able to speak for an unlimited amount of time and we place really high emphasis and importance on our audio quality.

We would love to hear what you guys have to say about Roger, so please feel free to leave a comment or suggestion right here. We are working towards being even more VoiceOver accessible, with the help of the great community over here :) If you do not know about us yet, then do check us out at https://rogertalk.com/ or drop us an email at hello@rogertalk.com. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

I've already suggested this to the des. We'll see what happens. a toggle is a good idea, possiblely in your long press or in your settings.

Hi @Jessica_Brown,

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you mind elaborating on your idea? :) We have Autoplay, which allows you to listen to conversations automatically whenever someone talks to you. Is that similar to what you're suggesting? :)

No I mean a toggle switch so that people can either have their messages plus the other person's messages or only the other person's messages show up in a conversation because from what I can tell some people want this and some people don't.

By Roger on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

@Jessica_Brown Oh I see! Thanks for the reply :) Yup, that could be possible as a future feature on Roger :)

Also, right now we are trying to improve on our Broadcast feature and it will be great to hear what you think about it!! Any thoughts on it?

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

I' liking it so far. I used it a few days ago to announce the update to some of my contacts. We'll see if the issues we had with the battery have been fixed.

Thanks for such a wonderful app.

Hi @KE7ZUM,

We loved your Broadcast!! :) Thanks for that!

Also, we made a lot of improvements to the issue of battery drainage in the last version pushed to the App store. Has Roger been working better for you? :)

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Yes I believe it has fixed the battery issues. More testing is needed on my part. Did I accidently send that to you guys as well? If so, oops? So sorry about that.

By Lisa on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hello, Sometimes messages that I have already heard will play again. Is there any way to stop this, so I don't have to hear messages that I have already heard? This happens in a group of people that I talk to. If this can't be done now, I hope you will fix this issue in a future release. Thank you.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

The devs know about the problem, but as of last speaking to them about said issue they are unsure as to why it happens. Basically for some reason the messages are beeing pushed from the server twice.

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

hey @roger you know the ring I get when the message has finished playing? it could be cool if the ring could apply to users using the speaker mode as well. that way in addition for it ringing while placed to the ear, it could also be heard as well on speaker mode as well. because usually after, voiceover says listen, XXX, where XXX means how many minutes is the message. it would be nice if the ring could be added for speaker mode as an indication that the message has finished playing.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Actually I hear the ring about 50 percent of the time. It's there, you just have to listen for it. I think if there are multiple messages then the ring happens otherwise not.

Hello,
I do listen to all of the messages, but I don't hear the ring. Say for example, I have 15 minutes of messages to listen to. I listen to those, then it will say I have 20 minutes of messages to listen to, so I play those. What happens though, the first 15 minutes worth of messages will play again before I can listen to the next 5 minutes of messages. This is very annoying, and other people in my group are having the same issue. I hope it can be fixed. Thank you.

Hello,
Firstly, I've just started using Roger, thank you for making this app so Voiceover Accessible and fun to use! Not sure if this has been said already, or if I've just not seen it, but when talking with one person and unother person talks, I'm not really seeing their messages come in until I exit the app, and see that it has one new item. If I'm talking to X, and Y sends a message, while I'm talking to X, I'll have no idea that Y send a message until I exit the app. Could their be a new sound, or vibration that happens when Y talks? Maybe its alreayd there, but I've just not seen it.
Thank so much all.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hmm mine vibrates when y talks. Maybe this is a bug? I got rid of the badges so I just look at the bottom of the app to see what's new. By the way my roger link is http://rogertalk.com/ke7zum

Blessings.

By Roger on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi @Jesus_R! As mentioned by @KE7ZUM, when someone else talks to you, there should be a vibration to alert you about it while you are using Roger (eg. while you are listening to X). Does it not happen for you? :)

By Jesus R on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi,
No, I'm not getting any vibration when unother person starts talking while I'm listenning to a message already. I'm out a lot and don't listen to my messages on the loudspeaker very much. Could this be why? Also, when someone is talking in the same chat as me and I press the listen button, what does the ringing sound mean?
Thanks.

By Roger on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

In reply to by Jesus R

Hi @Jesus_R

Hmm, you should feel the vibration even when your phone is raised to your ear. This occurs when you are within Roger and someone else starts a conversation with you, the vibration is quite short, could that be why you have been missing it?

The ringing sound when you first start listening means that particular conversation is loading at that moment :)

By kool_turk on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Someone buzzed me last night and now I'm curious, how do you go about buzzing someone using voiceover?

Buzzing is kind of like sending someone a nudge, like the old msn messenger use to do.

Zello also has this feature, only they just call it alerts.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

You need to wait until you get a notification that x has not listened yet. Then you swipe down for options on that notification in your notifications center. One of them will be to buzz someone.

Hth a bit.

By Jesus R on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi,
I did feel a vibration today. It happened while I was listenning to a message. Does a vibration happen while I'm recording too? Perhaps I've just had bad luck and people keep sending me messages while I'm recording so I don't know about them until I exit Roger. Thanks so much for everyones helpfulness.

By kool_turk on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

I don't see an option to buzz someone, it's just snooze and the default.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

It will happen while you are listening and recording, at least it does for me.

Feel free to hit me up on roger. My username is the same as on here.

Take care all.

By John Lipsey on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi all:
If people want to say hi to me, please feel free. I'm johnl1129 on roger. Just let me know you found me from apples.

By jessiepp on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

hi there all, I don't know what is going on but I installed roger on my iPad and I am having an issue that when I listen to a post on the iPad it won't clear.

By Roger on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

In reply to by jessiepp

Hello @jessiepp! Can you elaborate more on that issue? :) Do you mean that you have already finished listening to everything your contact said, but its not reflected in the timer?

By kool_turk on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Thanks, it never occurred to me to do a split tap 3 times, works perfectly.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

I didn't actually know you could do that. So you tripple tap on the person you want to buzz? What then happens on the person you buzzed end, if that even makes sence lol!

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

hey @roger and others, I would like to report to you guys the growing of roger. well, it's been growing like wiled fire! I use this karaoke app called sing! by smule, and 2 friends have already have roger. in fact, 1 person who joined my collaboration already got roger today and she loves it! her name is lourdes ray from OK. we started talking last night and she uses android. she can also sing totally good. also, my friend colleen from the inspiration cast also got roger and she loves it too! everyone around the world is using roger, and it's changing the way we all communicate. I even have friends from the marino campus which is an adult program I attend who also uses roger. we can continue to communicate even though when I graduate from the program. anyways, that's all for now. ps. how can I buzz someone? I know someone mentioned it. also, one other feature request is to have the ability to record using external stereo binaural microphones with roger, such as the hook verse from @hookeaudio which is expected soon. I'm sure that @AnthonyM will add the ability soon.

By kool_turk on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Buzzing someone is like giving them a virtual tap or nudge.

It shows up as a notification when not in the app.

When you're in the app it just vibrates.

It's really to just grab someone's attention, like when you see that person hasn't listened to your message yet.

To buzz someone when voiceover is on, you'll need to do a split tap on that user's name 3 times.

By kool_turk on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if voiceover loses focus when you share a profile and try to add to notes.

I'm not sure what happens, but voiceover seems to be focused on the status bar and there doesn't appear to be a way of getting out of that screen.

Recalibrating the phone appears to fix the issue, but the profile you're trying to add to notes doesn't appear to work or I'm doing it wrong.

When you go to share a profile and add to notes nothing happens.

By Chris on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hello,

How do you create groups in Roger? I can only talk to individual people.

By KE7ZUM on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 - 15:16

To create a group select the contacts you want to talk to after tapping broadcast then add contact. Then click start. That's about it. If you need to add or remove someone you need to recreate the group.

Take care.

By KE7ZUM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

I posted this in the app thread as well but here in case this might get more conversation going.

I'm not actually seeing an add contacts thing anywhere. Plus my name shows up twice. I hear the greeting I set up last week. I also see my name at the very beginning of the list. I love the rewind feature though it works grate and pausing is also wonderful as well. Is there a way to maybe add the possibility of skipping back through the messages of a contact over the past 48 hours? Not a deal breaker but yeah that should be next in the work flow, plus forwarding through messages let's say if you need to.

Loving the app. Keep it up.

By jcdjmac (not verified) on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

@ke7zum good to hear that the latest version is working good for you. well, not seeing it for me. however, I love the ability to paus a message and resume later. also @roger the rewind feature I haven't tryed, but how does one with voiceover on activate it? I shall play around with it. anyways, loving this version. keep it up!

By KE7ZUM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Really? You can search for contacts? I don't see the add button anyware and I updated this morning. How odd? Maybe it will just fix itself at some point. Lol!

By kool_turk on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Searching for users is now tucked away under the what use to be the broadcast button.

Now it just says your name.

You tap on your name, then tap on the mic button, instead of recording, the contacts screen comes up.

It's a strange way of doing things, but there you have it.

By KE7ZUM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Yeah I found that out, but now the broadcast feature is missing unless that's also hidden. I'm patient, but I guess I've ben spoiled. Lol! I love that broadcast feature. I've used it to get announcements out to some of my podcast listeners who follow me on roger.

Hello, it's the best app I have ever used for voice messages, there are many apps I can use for talking, that's true, but Roger just rocks, I love its audio quality and its simplicity, good job! Greetings from Poland :).

By Roger on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

@KE7ZUM,

Hello! We have made some changes to Roger. Previously when you opened Roger, you would see "Broadcast" at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Now, we have replaced it with your own icon instead. When you tap on that icon (your name), that particular screen that it brings you will allow you both add contacts and also enter the settings page.

Only for that particular screen, to add contacts, the + sign icon which used to be at the top right hand corner is now at the position of the microphone button. This is to make it easier to reach for the + sign icon, because we thought it was a little difficult to reach for it previously :)

Also, we are making some changes to Broadcast but we might bring it back in the future! ;)

By Roger on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi from New York @Dorota! Thanks so much for that :)

By Jesus R on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi all,
I'm loving the new voice plantform? Dropbox? Awesome! Facebook and twitter? Even better!
One question though. How do I get Amazon alexa to work with roger? Wonce I enter my email and password on the sign in page that roger brings up, I get the same page, but with a prompt to enter a captcha. I can't really use captchas on my iPhone, so is there a way of activating roger and alexa from my computer?
Thanks all.

By KE7ZUM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

I didn't get the cpatcha. I just signed in, excepted the agreement and went. How odd. Also I can't get the who do you want to talk to thing to go away. I kind of don't want to see that all the time. It just showed upout of the blue today. Lol!

By Roger on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hi @Jesus_R and @KE7ZUM,

We are aware of the issue, but unfortunately this is beyond our control as this is on Amazon's page. We are looking into making it accessible but it might take some time!

Also @KE7ZUM, are you referring to the screen that asks you if you want to talk to your family or friends?

By KE7ZUM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Yes, I am. I didn't see that there until this morning. I was a bit confused. I have another question but I'll post it separately to avoid confusion.

Thanks.

By KE7ZUM on Thursday, May 26, 2016 - 15:16

Hello there, how do you use the web code when you go to settings then add accounts? That message is a bit unclear to me. Anyone know the answer to this?

Thanks.
