Hello. This is common in all iPhones since the 5S. The speakers seem to distort a little bit at full volume. Don't use the phone at wide open volume to sort this.

Hello,

On an iPad, I had sound distortion and thought it was a hardware issue. I took it to an Apple store and they simply performed a factory restore and all was well. The genius at the bar said the restore wipes out the device and reinstalls all the drivers like new. This has always worked for me when any of my IOS devices misbehaves so you may want to try it before going to the Apple store.

Connect your device to your PC/Mac.
Launch iTunes and select restore.
Set the device as new then test it before installing any apps. I suggest this to be sure none of your apps are causing the sound issues.

HTH and good luck.

I too had this issue, sort of when i received my iPhone 6S+ a few months back. What it might be and it worked for me is to change the EQ/ equalizer setting from whatever you have your current default to something like spoken word or acoustic. It really made a difference for me.

If you bought the phone directly from your carrier and you still have the 14 day return policy, you can contact your carrier and see if they will exchange your phone. Or if you order your iPhone directly from Apple, they might be able to exchange the phone for you. If you did that, you will have to contact your carrier and make a new plan.

Is the phone referhlished?
Someone may of dropped it in water or liquid, and the speakers might of fogged up. It happened to me on my iPad, dropped it in to the toilet and the speakers became muffled and distorted. It is until when I cleaned it with some napkins it stopped.

I also have this happen, not the droping th phone into liquid, but sometimes at high volume, the speaker distorts. The 5S and 6S plus both do this at full volume. I just don't use my phone at full volume and the problem is solved.

hi, i bought the phone directly from apple store, and it was not refurbish i bought it brand new, and its also haven't dropped in the water as well, i tried to go today to the apple store but because of easter all malls are closed, ya happy easter everyone:)

i have 14 days return policy as well so hopefully i go to the apple store tomorrow and then see what they will do, most likely i want to exchange this with another 6s plus 64gb, few people are telling me to go for 6s but i like the bigger phone and have many cases of my old 6plus which i easily use with 6 s plus and i ordered few new one as well for the 6 s plus, if i go for the 6s then my all new cases are for no use and my money will be gone:)

How do you change the equaliser? I have never heard of that before.

By tunmi13 on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 - 15:24

The equaliser (EQ) controls how your speakers play music, for example, if I had a hip hop song I could put the Hip Hop EQ which will make my speakers sound hip hopish. If I'm listening to a rap song I could use the Bass Boost EQ. There are also many other ones too.
Note that this will not take affect to your actual speakers, they will only take affect to your speakers when you listen to the built-in music app.
Change EQ: Settings > Music > EQ.
