Why not use space instead of a timeout for grade II translation?

Grade II translation while typing? Why does Apple use a time out to determine when to translate grade II braille? Why isn't the space key used to start translation?  I never realized just how much time I spend thinking about what I am going to type!!! ,If Apple used the pspace key to start translating it would make more sense for students taking notes and thoughtful typers like me. LOL

I actually submited this idea to Apple Accessibility awhile back, but it has not changed in Mountain Lion, and it's also doubtful it'll change in iOS 6. It still wouldn't fix the limitation where the translation doesn't work within context, but it's a step in the right direction. Or, should I say, it would be a step in the right direction if they had listened.

As iOS grows in popularity I am wanting to recommend braille displays with iPhones, pads, or pods. It's a great combination but I always need to make people aware of that one glitch. I'd suggest that all who would like to see this change write to accessibility@apple.com. That one change would make a great deal of difference for people using Braille with there iThing.

What do people think of this as a Campaign issue? It reY would be a great improvement.

A campaigne of the month sounds good. this feature introduces the most errors into my typing. And it doesn't make sense to type ingrade 1 braille all the time. Grade one braille is just too labor intensive with 6 keys to press for every letter. I do have some doubts. 1. How motivated are all of the Hims Braille users going to be to participate in such a campaigne when right now they can't connect their displays with their ,idevice? Please remind me how the campaigne works. I already sent an email to the above address.

Apple replied. i have not found the Apple suggestions helpful because the problem is that grade two translation is performed before I am allowed to delete an incorrect character. I replied to Apple with examples of errors and explanations of how they ckce to occur. Apple response: Thank you for your email. Apple is working to improve the 6 dot braille experience, so feedback is always appreciated. You can delay the translation timeout out by holding down on any key of the previous braille character. For example, if you type "c" in braille, which is dots 1-4, hold down on either 1 or 4 until you start the next braille character

I think it would be a good compain of the month thing too. I've used my iPod with a braille display, and since our school will be moving over to iOS for reading textbooks and stuff too, and because the blind folks of our school will be getting refreshabrailles, the school is the Alabama school for the blind and we have visually empaired students too BTW, but anyways since the tatally blind of the school, yes including myself, will be getting iPods, and will be switching from Braille-notes where they're used to translation of words after pressing space or a punctuation key, it will serve as a better transition to iOS's braille system.
