5s reboots sometimes while charging

Hello,
I have a 5s. The last month or so I notice it will reboot a few minutes after plugging it in. This doesn't happen every time but sometimes. As far as I know it only happens once during the charge cycle but sometimes not at all. I plug my phone into AC when charging it. I'm wondering is this a 9.2 issue do you think or something hardware related?
Thanks

Hello,
I have an iPhone 6+ and I see this sometimes myself. I always charge my phone at night. A few times I have noticed that the phone rebooted because it will ask me for my passcode rather than using touch ID to unlock the phone.

In 2014, I encountered a similar problem on a 5S, which ultimately resulted in a restore since the phone became non-functional. Long story short, I was told by an Apple representative that the charger I used hadn't been genuine. Fortunately, the one she gave me later stopped the issue. From what I remember, Apple chargers have a spot of green in between the two prongs. Of course, the problem may be completely different, but the charger is worth considering.

Hello,

Iā€™m not having this issue. I am on an iPhone 6 with IOS 9.2. I am using the charger and cable that came with my phone. I only charge the phone when it gets below 10percent which is usually during the day. I also know when my phone restarts because Siri tells me through my Halos. You could try the Apple store Genius Bar fix. Connect your device to your PC and perform a factory restore.

HTH and good luck.

I'm also using an apple charger, I will get a new one from apple and see what happens, if not I'll try a restore as I don't like to restore unless I really have to.

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 9.2 (and now 9.2.1).

I have sometimes had to enter my passcode after keeping the phone plugged in all night. I assumed that it had automatically rebooted, but never heard VoiceOver or any other sounds wake me up, so I can't be certain.

It has only happened a handful of times. I generally keep my phone at 70% charge or more.

I also use the original Apple charger. I assume this is just something flakey in the software and/or by design since I don't experience any other issues/problems with my phone.

Sometimes, when my iPad Mini 4 is charging overnight, the springboard will reset. I generally have this happen two or three times per week. When the springboard resets, VoiceOver blurts out "screen locked," which often wakes me up since I am a light sleeper. It typically happens around midnight or shortly thereafter. After unlocking the device, the iPad comes up on page 1 of the home screen, regardless of where I was previously, and a number of apps default to their startup screens instead of where I left them, all of which is indicative of a springboard reset.

This is not the same as a full reboot, since Touch ID still works. This started happening after upgrading to iOS 9.1, and it still happens with iOS 9.2.1.

Meanwhile, Touch ID will also get reset overnight, requiring me to enter my passcode. This generally happens to me only once a week, often on a Monday, and it is not related to the springboard reset issue I mentioned above, since nothing else shows any signs of being reset. I have not had both Touch ID and the springboard get reset the same night.

If I set up the iPad to play audio overnight, such as white noise, then the springboard reset does not happen, although the Touch ID reset may still occur. If I do this several nights in a row, the iPad starts to become sluggish. If I then let the iPad charge without playing any audio, the springboard resets that night, and the iPad is back to its fast responsiveness it normally is.

I have yet to figure out the cause. I know the Touch ID reset problem is reported on numerous support forums, so it appears to be pretty common, but I don't know if the springboard reset issue I am experiencing is unusual or not. I am using an Apple lightning cable which is plugged into an Anker five-port wall charger.
