Apple Releases iOS 9.2.1 With Bug Fixes and Security Improvements

Apple has today released iOS 9.2.1 to the public, bringing a number of bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements to the operating system.

According to Apple's release notes via MacRumors, iOS 9.2.1 includes:

security improvements and bug fixes, including a fix for a significant Mobile Device Management issue that affected enterprise customers.

Based on our testing of the two iOS 9.2.1 betas which preceded this public release, it does not appear as though there are any accessibility-specific improvements in iOS 9.2.1. However, it is also worth noting that we did not identify any new accessibility bugs in this release, and that the focus across the board appears to have been on under-the-hood optimizations.

As we always like to stress at this point, it is impossible for us to test all devices, apps, and use cases. So, it is possible that we have overlooked some changes, regressions or improvements. With this in mind, we would greatly appreciate your help in ensuring that the information on this page is as complete and accurate as possible. If you spot any accessibility-related changes in iOS 9.2.1, please do let us know in the comments.

iOS 9.2.1 is available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings> General> Software Update) or from iTunes on the Mac or PC. As always, we would encourage you to make a backup before installing this update.

There is a bug that was introduced in iOS 9.2 in safari.
Let's say a user is on a google search page. This user is on the third result. The user double taps the link to go to that webpage. Now, when you do a two finger scrub the focus goes to the top of the page. Focus should go to that third link in the google result.
In short, VO does not remember the focus on the previous webpage. Note that this works fine on a mac.
If you can, please add this to the bugs page of applevis.

There are quite afew bugs related to VoiceOver and probably other accessibility features since iOS 9.1 at least. Ame with El Capitan. I guess we'll have to admit this will never be the same as before.

I actually haven't really encounter many bugs so not saying they don't exist but I'm pretty satisfied overall. Every release is going to have bugs it's just the way it is I still feel voiceovers the best. Back in the day my Braelin speak 640 which cost $1500 would lose my files every few months or so that was a big annoyance I'm just saying technology has never been perfect.

I didn't see a post for the latest release of OS X yesterday, so I'm going a bit off-topic here. It appears that they've fixed a couple of safari bugs though, including where it would speak the first letter of what you would type into the address bar when you went to another webpage or search.

While I haven't tested it frequently enough to know for sure, I also think that they've fixed the web rotor from changing elements when you visit a different page. I also haven't had that annoying bug where VO keeps trying to read an element from safari when you jump to another window.

Hopefully these things are actually fixed. I know the address bar hasn't shown me the previously mentioned bug since I've upgraded at the very least.

The post says that there are no new bugs that they have found in iOS 9.2.1, meaning versus those already known about in 9.2 and previous. It's not saying there are no bugs.
@DudeLove721 I hope you're right about that Safari bug on Mac :)

So far, the safari issue you mentioned of earlier on the mac side is working fine on my end. I have encountered no real issues in iOs 9.2.1

I noticed that the very first two comments dealt with version 9.2. To avoid confusion, be sure to get the numbers right. This thread is not for the previous release. We're on 9.2.1.

What no one has thought about is simple: this is an minor update. So why is everyone saying oh it's not gonna be the same as before? This isn't a brand new, look what we've changed, focused on, fixed. This is a minor probably mostly security update, if it's 27mb in size. Mini update everyone, try to remember that.

I've actually noticed something new with VO in the update. If I was on a page, took a link to a new page then navigated back to the old page, VO used to start me on the top, but now it returns me to where I left off. This is nice. I also noticed that I don't even have to hit the unlock button any more. I just have to hit home and scan my finger. That's nice too.

Hey Ken, I've been able to unlock by just pressing the home button since Touch ID first appeared on the 5S :)

Whenever I make a call or get a call my Bluetooth disconnect. It was working recently in iOS 9.2 but now is worse. I hope they fix this in iOS 9.3. Hope that those who are testing the beta will report it.

I have faced that issue with my headset as well. When it pops up, I forget the device under settings, bluetooth. This usually fixes the problem.

I am sorry, I didn't add the last step. You then pair your headset again. This solved the issue for me.

There are a few problems like you said so I have to agree on that but sometimes I don't know if this is just a problem or is this just the new iOS thing but sometimes when I speak using dictation there is what would you have to's call it voiceover starts reading what it's typing and it isn't working properly are you stick Tatian when I use dick Tatian honestly it's like a battle between me and dictation

I just discovered the dictation echo bug. I normally use headphones so didn't realize that it could be a problem with voiceover. So far it always happens when I use quick reply to a message.
