Questions about using mail on the Mac

Hey All,

I don’t know if this question has been asked before. I’ve looked but couldn’t find it on the Applevis website. And, of course, this might be what seems like a stupid question, but here goes.

I just got a Macbook Pro last month. The other day, I finally got my laptop connected to the Internet. Unfortunately, I am having trouble using the Mail app. I can access my mail, but I am having trouble doing anything else.

Can anyone give me the commands to send, reply to, forward, and anything else the average person would need to do in email? In addition, I need to be able to add contacts to my address book, or whatever it’s called in OSX.

I apologize if this question has been asked before, and if it is a stupid question. Unfortunately, like I’ve said before, I am rather stupid when it comes to technology.

Thank you in advance for any help you folks can give me.

In Mail, press vo-m once, then use the arrows to explore. (Hint: turn Quick Nav off, and you can arrow around the menus with no need to hold down the VO keys.) Most of the commands you're after will be in the 'message' menu, but they are all worth exploring. Plus, if you ever forget a keystroke, this is how you can activate the desired function anyway.

As to contacts, open the Contacts application, use the View menu to ensure that your groups table is showing, and find the groups table. Assuming you've enabled iCloud sharing with contacts, move to the table, down arrow to 'all iCloud', then cmd-n to make a new contact. Fill everything out, stop interacting twice, and vo-right to the 'done' button. Vo-space, and it'll turn into an 'edit' button. You've added a contact.

There's more to it, and other ways of doing everything I said above, but that should get you started.
