Repeatedly being prompted to verify my Apple ID

iOS and iPadOS

Both of my ipads have started to give me a popup asking for Apple ID verification every time I tap reply in email. I am using the native mail app and it happens with both gmail and icloud mail accounts. The popup asks for the password for the email address associated with my Apple account. The two options are Not Now and Settings. Tapping Not Now makes the popup go away and I am able to proceed. This has been happening consistantly since Christmas day when I set up a new ipad. Many times I have tapped Settings and signed in but next time I go to reply to an email there is the popup again. Thank you to anyone who may be able to tell me what is wrong.

Hi there! I haven't experienced this with mail, but it's shown up on my apple TV, preventing me from buying a couple of movies this morning. Honestly, that's probably for the best, but the verification also showed up when I was trying to update a free app on my phone through the app store. Something must be going on. Maybe Apple makes us verify our info at the beginning of the new year or something?

Wait until you get the pop-up and tap Settings. It will then take you to the place to type your Apple ID password. Type in your password and hit Ok. Now it won't pop up anymore.
Good luck!

I doubt that this happened with the person who originally posted the question, but this can sometimes happen if you frequently use different Apple IDs on your device, or if you are signed out of any Apple ID.

I am not using but one Apple I.D. on my devices. And am not signing out. I do have two other devices that I don't use often that have different Apple accounts but the ipads that get the popups are being used with one I.D. Thanks for your input

I had this prompt pop up several times on my new iPad mini. It hasn't appeared on neither my iPhone or iPod Touch, which suggests to me that this is an iPad only problem. It started happening towards the end of 2015 [the last week perhaps], although I only got my iPad on Christmas Day, so I can't be sure when this started happening for others. Once I filled in the password several times, the prompt stopped appearing. Maybe continue to enter your password, however tedious, until the prompt gets the message *smiles*

I have come across this a few times.
In both cases, it was because Apple wanted me to verify credit card information.
In either the Appstore, or iTunes store on the devices prompting you, go in to View my Apple ID.
From there, edit payment information.
Chances are, Apple either just needs your security code and/or expiration date of your credit card.
I hope this helps.

Add me too! This is anoying with my iPhone5S for nearly a couple of months. But I think whenever it is trying to back up with iCloud, this is happening. But not sure of that. I hope this will keep shut. I have also keyed in my password plenty of times already.

Hello,

This happened to me a while back. It was caused by one of two things.

1. My son downloaded a game on my iPhone using his mom’s apple ID. Thus I would get prompted for the apple id and password all over the place. I deleted the game and the prompt stopped.
2. 2. The OS for some reason went haywire. I went to settings> iTunes and apps store. Selected my apple ID then signed out. I restarted my phone and signed back in.
HTH and good luck.

I love this forum! The problem seems to have gone away. I had to sign in a few more times but not since yesterday.
