tvOS and Apple TV Apps

Hello all,
I'm very new to apple tv. What I'm wondering is there an easier way to read activation codes on apps? What I have been doing is going to the activation website for the network I want to activate, then I type in the activation code based on what I heard on the apple tv. I tried switching the roder to characters but sometimes when I swipe down voiceover gives me nothing or sometimes it's just the bong noise. The way I've been doing it now with what I think the code is based on what vo said is working but a bit teadious as sometimes I have to refresh and get a new code, is there an easier way?
Thanks.

If you slow down the rate of VoiceOver while dealing with the access codes, it may be enough for you to catch it the first time. Speech rate is located on the rotor.
