Issues with sounds on IOS 9.2

Hi all,
I need some help here. I'm having 3 issues with sounds since I updated my iPhone 5s to IOS 9.2. First, and probably most annoying to me is that I no longer have the lock screen and keyboard click sounds. When my iPhone powers on, VO says "muted" and I'm pretty sure those sounds have been muted. Here are the things I have tried so far:
1. Reboot phone.
2. Reboot by pressing the home and power buttons.
3. Gone to settings>sounds and made sure both check boxes were checked.
4. Unchecked both boxes in settings>sounds, rebooted phone, then rechecked the boxes
5. Made sure volume was turned up.
I'm out of ideas on this one. I've looked all over settings and can't find any more options that might help.

The second issue I'm having is that no sounds are playing in games, like Dice world or Trivia Crack, when I don't have my earbuds plugged in. I can hear VO just fine on the built in speakers, but no game sounds. Music also plays over the built in speaker just fine. I've rebooted both ways mentioned before and made sure the volume was at an acceptable level, but nothing helped. Any ideas?

The third issue I'm having is with audioducking. If I turn audioducking on, all sounds dim when VO is speaking, but they never come back up when VO stops speaking. I'm fresh out of thoughts on this one. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mel

Hi Melinda,

I'm not sure if this will help for your second and third issues, but for your first issue...try checking the Mute switch just above the volume button on the device. Make sure that it is turned upwards, or towards the screen of the device if that makes any sense. If in doubt, try flipping the switch in both directions and see if that solves any of your problems. VoiceOver should say, "Unmuted..." when the switch is in the Unmuted position.

Check the ring/silent switch on the phone. It's the switch just above the volume up button. The switch can slide both up and down. If it's up, the phone is unmuted and all sounds should play. If it's down, voiceover will say muted, and you won't have sound in games, keyboard clicks, etc. HTH.

It seems like after updating to iOS 9.2 on my iPhone 6, I no longer hear the two little tones when double tapping to hang up a phone call. I rely on those sounds to know the call has actually been terminated.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Thanks all for the info about the mute switch. I didn't even know iPhones had a mute switch! Believe it or not, fixing the mute switch fixed all three of my issues. I'm a happy camper!
Thanks again,
Melinda

Hi all, I have my own sound issue after updating. I've noticed that in some apps, such as games, for example, I will get choppy sound. Its like the sound seems to break up for a second. At first, I thought it was my wireless headset somehow interfearing with my I-phone 5s, but after turning the headset off, and noticing the same issue, I quickly ruled that out. Rebooting the phone both ways didn't help. Any thoughts?

I've seen the same thing, especially when sending Imessages. Choppy is a good description. Doesn't happen very often for me, only had it twice so far. Odd.

I've seen this in iOs 7/8 as well. I opened Solara once and saw the music was a little choppy with VO when it audio ducked at the beginning. No big deal, but it happened. Also, all the iPhones have had a silent/unmute switch above the volume buttons.

I have found that the clicking sound during a "spin" in Trivia Crack gets choppy through my iPhone 6's speaker. However, when connected with blue tooth, it works just fine. That seems counter intuitive to me.

Have you ever noticed that the quality of VO speech goes down while on a phone call? Well, when the call is ended, the quality of VO speech will raise again. That's a good way to tell if a call has ended. Another way to tell if a call has ended or not is to look for the end button on the screen; if the end button is still on the screen, a call has not ended.

Thanks,
Shersey

This is a possible fix to almost all software issues with iOS devices. If you're having software issues with your iPhone or iPad and you've exhausted all your basic troubleshooting options, restoring it brand new is a good idea.

Plug in your iPhone and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPhone icon.
Click on Restore iPhone... in the Summary section.
Choose whether or not you'd like to back up settings before restoring.
Click on Restore on the next popup.
You may see a popup asking to transfer purchases. If everything is backed up to iCloud, you don't have to if you don't want to.
Wait for iTunes to do its thing. Once it's done, your iPhone or iPad should now be back stock settings.
