MacBook Pro Just quit

I just got my first Macbook Pro today. I had to take it to Geek Squad over at Best Buy because we don’t have an Apple store in my town. They were able to get VO started and show me some basic things on the machine.

When I got it home today, I charged the battery and took a nap.

Just a few minutes ago, I was in the Quick help guide, and everything was going fine. I sat the computer down to go do something, and when I returned, my Macbook just quit on me for some reason.

I don’t think it is even turning on, but I can’t tell.

Does anybody have any suggestions, or will I need to go back to Best Buy?

Thank you all in advance.

Have you tried turning it off then back on again? It could just be that the screen locked. Are you sure that it was fully charged?

Yes, I tried to turn it off, and back on again. Nothing happened.

As far as a fully charged battery is concerned, I’m not totally sure.

When I was in Best Buy’s Geek Squad department, I saw the battery charge at first. But, when we got out of some window, we couldn’t figure out how to get VO onto the status bar. So, when I got home, I put it on the charger and lied down for about two hours. At the time I left the store, I had probably 30% charge on the computer.

Thank you in advance for any information you nice folks here on Apple Vis can give me.

hi their, to the person who posted about this, did you go into system preferences, and set your computer to never sleep?

Hi.
Try the 'ol hold power button till you hear the computer shut down then release it. Sometimes if VO will freeze, or the MBP will just freeze, this is/was the only way to fix the issue sometime. Other times it would just automaticallyy reboot after a few seconds. Try listening to the computer and put your ear directly on it and see if you can hear a buzzing from the fan/fans. If so, MBP is on. If not, then there is no fan or the MBP is turned off, in which case, hit to power key/button. On my mid 2012 MBP 15, there is a recessed power button at the top right of the unit almost flush with the metal case, os use the tip of a finger to find it.

Hi brandon,
Ah! I forgot about that one! I,also, have my comp never sleep. I find it mightily annoying when watching videos/reading and the thing just dims and goes to sleep. That might be the issue right there!!

I’m not sure what’s going on with this crazy machine. It’s possible I did something to kill it, but I hope not, because it is a Christmas present.

Anyway, I digress.

After I made my first post on this issue, I called Geek Squad from Best Buy. The technician told me that it sounded like a hardware issue, and I would have to go into the store. However, I’ve tried just about everything you guys suggested to me, but nothing happens. To answer Brandon’s question, no I didn’t, because I Just got the thing on Thursday, December 10th, and I’m just learning to use it.

I’m really hoping, that if I have to go into Best Buy, they don’t charge me too much, because, like I said, this is a Christmas present. If this individual hadn’t bought it for me, I wouldn’t be able to afford it.

And, for my own future reference:

How do I unlock the screen if it does lock? I’m asking now because, that might have happened while I was away from the computer, and I did something to kill it.

Thanks again for any and all information you can provide me.

I also thank you for your patience and understanding.

Ps.

I'm sorry about the missing "o" in my riginal post subject. I didn't realize it wasn't there until after the post was submitted. I'm having to use my old Windows machine, until I fully learn to use the Macbook Pro.
