Seeking Assistance in Learning How to Use the iPhone's Camera

Hello,

I need some assistance using the iPhone's camera. I do not know how to aim it or do anything to make it take an accurate picture. This causes me a significant problem in many apps including FaceTime, Crowdvis and KNFB Reader. I am congenitally blind and have no usable vision for the iPhone. I am not spatial and do not form pictures in my mind.

Thank you

I am surprised that no one would respond, as I know that there are many proficient camera users who make use of this site. I would greatly appreciate any assistance that anyone has to offer. In addition, though I live a busy life like everybody else, I will try to take more time to help others when I can provide assistance.

Thank you

Hello.

I'm not sure how to use the camera either, but I can give you a bit of advice.

If your a VoiceOver user, and if your using the FaceTime camera, the FaceTime camera will recognize a face, but that's about all I can help with at this point. I'm actually still trying to figure out how to use it myself. Another piece of advice I can give you is to email or call the Accessibility team at Apple. They have helped me in the past, and they are great people when it comes to accessibility, especially with VoiceOver. Hope this helps.

Hello.

As you said, there are some blind users with proficiency in the use of the iPhone camera. I'm not the best one, just because I haven't found many situations where was a great idea to take a picture. However, I have been successful when I had to do it and I got good skills when scanning or taking objects to be recognised.
There is a great book titled "Get the Picture". it was wrote by Judy Dixon and costs 15 dollars. You can get it from National Braille Press by clicking the following link:

Hope it helps.

What a great idea. Thank you for the suggestion. I'm going to look into it.
