Hello to all. In using iCloud drive in osx Yosemite, I notice that I cannot any of the files in any of my apps not on iOS or osx and everything is checked. When I hit cmd shift I it shows 0 items in the folder. What am I missing here? I understood iCloud drive to mean I could see all the files in all of the apps on all devices, well the supported apps anyway. I'm in the middle of recording my how to on Yosemite, and I get the feeling I will have to add an addendum to the thing on iCloud drive as I already recorded the section on it.
I should add that iCloud drive is on under iOS as well so why can I not see stuff on my osx machine from iOS?
I feel I'm quite a tech in understanding this stuff but this alludes me.
Thanks all.

You should see folders
There are folders for every Mac app, like Automater and Preview. I would double check your settings on all devices.
I did. All of them are on.
I did. All of them are on. and checked. same wiht ios. I see nothing when I hit cmd shift I. and I am signed in to icloud.
to show what I mean Here is a very short clip of what I mean. I get interupted so I have to end early but I think the point is made.
Be blessed to all.
checking progress of iCloud drive files downloading
hi after putting a file in iCloud how does one monitor the status of the transfer i know dropbox you can
You can't. You just have to
You can't. You just have to trust that it will upload. Since apple has very fast servers it will try and max up your upload so be aware of that. I jsut hope I can get my icloud drive issue solved though. this is an odd one.
for the uploading
You can look at the activity monitor, and there you'll see if your computer is uploading or not, all though you can't see if it is almost finished or not.
iCloud drive
This is causing me to scratch my head some too. I can't access my supported file types from my iPhone 5s, but I can use it just like any other drive on my Mac. Puzzled look.
Issues
According to the ars review iCloud drive items that are syncing should have some kind of status indicator in Finder... SO we probably add that to the list of accessibility specific yosemite issues.
I can't say I had luck in getting things to show up myself.
Actually I have gotten it all
Actually I have gotten it all to show up, but with iCloud drive explorer being removed from the app store there is no feasible way to brows your iCloud drive. Actually it makes sense as to why apple removed it, and I would have done the same thing as I expect the more advanced users to use iCloud drive. Not the beginner users. I have to explain to my relative what this is and they still don't get it after about 20minute explanation.
As for telling when it's there, that's an easy one. Go to your activity moniter . All the info you need is right there.
ICloud Drive
I use the Pages, Numbers and PDF Expert apps to browse iCloud Drive.
The probme is this. none of
The probme is this. none of my socuments show upin any of the apps yet I can see thm in the manage settings portion of of icloud settings app.
They do show up
You can view your iCloud drive with an iPhone. For example, if you use the Pages app, when you open the app there is a + sign in the top left corner. If you tap that and select iCloud, what is stored in iCloud Drive is there.
For what it's worth
I just looked at my iCloud Drive, and there are zero items in it. Although I have a number of iCloud services enabled, I haven't explicitly stored anything on iCloud Drive, so it didn't surprise me to see an empty drive. Note that just because something is using iCloud, such as Safari, doesn't mean it's using iCloud Drive.
If you saved a document to iCloud Drive, and it still looks empty when you view it in the Finder, then something is wrong.
Oh no I can see it in the
Oh no I can see it in the finder fine, but I cannot see it in any other apps I open such as pages. If I do its like a week later; so either I'm doing something wrong, which I doubt, or apple broke it, which I surmise is the case.
If I drop something into
If I drop something into iCloud Drive on my Mac, I can see those files saved on iCloud Drive on my iPhone. On my iCloud Drive, I have some PDF's, Word documents, photos, audio clips etc. If I open say Pages, I can view all those saved files on my iCloud Drive. If they are saved on iCloud Drive, you tap on the + sign in the top left corner of the Pages app and select iCloud. If I want to view ICloud Drive with say PDF expert, I click on the cloud icon and select iCloud Drive on the top left corner.
Hmm. Interesting as I can
Hmm. Interesting as I can only still see the one thing I left in there. I'll have to play with it after I teach class today as I don't want to brake somethign during training.
yeah I just tried it and tha tnew document is a bit misleading in my opinion. lol! I can see all of my stuff which works. Now let's hope I grasp this well enough to teach this.
Arrange By None
Hi, I'm not sure what exactly is causing your problem, but I have noticed that sometimes when you have your view preferences set so that the folder is arranged by categories, voiceover thinks there's nothing there. So if you try going into iCloud drive, press command J for view options, and set arrange by to none, it might fix it. Hope that works.
