Two weeks to the day after releasing iOS 9 and a week after releasing iOS 9.0.1, Apple has today released iOS 9.0.2 to the public.
According to Apple's release notes via Mac Rumors, iOS 9.0.2 contains the following:
This update contains bug fixes and improvements including:
- Fixes an issue with the setting to turn on or off app cellular data usage
- Resolves an issue that prevented iMessage activation for some users
- Resolves an issue where an iCloud backup could be interrupted after starting a manual backup
- Fixes an issue where the screen could incorrectly rotate when receiving notifications
- Improves the stability of Podcasts
As this is a minor update which appears to have been released to fix a few very specific issues, we do not expect that it will contain any improvements for VoiceOver users.
iOS 9.0.2 is available via Over-the-Air Update in Settings> General> Software Update or via iTunes.

4 finger single tap
I don't know if this is just me, or the Lifeline 2 app, or something that broke in this brand new IOS update, but the 4 finger single tap that is supposed to move me to the bottom of the screen just doesn't seem to be working. Sometimes, it will at least say "bottom of screen" yet it doesn't actually seem to be going there. It could be that this is a bug only in the Lifeline 2 game, but as that's the only app I use this gesture in, and since it mostly seemed to work prior to my update last night, I thought I'd report it, just in case anyone else has experienced it. Far from a show-stopper; just a little frustrating.
Something's been fixed, silence after speech.
Hi all. I know a bit weird subject, let me try to explain. I'm also not crazy, let me preface this, ok here goes. I fyou have a device, running anything before IOs nine, do the following. 1. unlock the device then touch on the screen anywhere. 2. If your hearing is accute enough, I realize there are some with hearing impairments on here, press the phone to your ear, speaker side, and listen. After you've heard voice over speak, it's a hiss for maybe fifteen seconds, perhaps shorter, prhaps longer. Then it clicks. This wasn't a big deal but I could never figure out to say to Apple are they aware it does this? i'd notice if I were having the phone beside me on the pillow after maybe finishing a sentence in an ibook or something.anyway since nine this has been fixed. Probably no one cares, but there you have it. :)
You're not the only one there
You're not the only one there; I certainly noticed the hiss but just assumed it couldn't be helped. I shall upgrade tonight. :)
Manual iCloud backup bug
Hi! I read in various places, including here, that IOS 9.0.2 is supposed to resolve the bug where a manual iCloud backup doesn't always complete the first time it is started. Just under two hours before writing this post, I did my first manual iCloud backup since I updated my iphone 6 to IOS 9.0.2, and the first attempt didn't complete again: luckily the second one did. The automatic backup to iCloud which took place yesterday when I plugged in my iPhone after being out a big chunk of the day worked fine, so I probably won't bother with manual backups so much from now on: at least I know that, if I do a manual backup and it doesn't work fully the first time, the manual backup is usually completed on the second attempt.
4 fingers single tab.
I just tried this and its working fine with my iPhone5S.
Raaj.
Problems with Voice and Speech Rate
I just updated to 9.02 today. After the update my voice was different and the rate was much faster. I went into the settings and voice over. Went to speech and adjusted the rate. However, nothing changed. I don't play a lot with many things so I am not an expert user like most of you. Any suggestions?
Any iPhone 4s users who
Any iPhone 4s users who updated to iOS 9.0.2, how does the device work now? I was fine on iOS 7 but I had to restore and it forced me to upgrade to iOS 8.1.4. Should I stay here or keep upgrading?
speech rate following 9.02 update
Yep - not just you. Called a fiend and his fix worked. Go to the home screen and use the rotor and dial to speech. Adjust by flicking up or down, and then turn the rotor to container, and your speech rate shold be locked in. I, too, could not get the speech rate to work from Settings...
RE: To Raul
@Raul, according to Apple, iOS9 is supposed to work on any device that would support iOS8. I advise you try the update. Also, the update takes up less space than iOS8.
finsihed editing
Hi all. Anyone else know from at least this update, if you delete or move an app, clicking home gets yout he nice message "Finished editing." Thought that was a neat thing.
