Hello,
I was trying to delete the Siri enhanced quality male voice, while I do like the voice I do have trouble understanding him at times because of the way he pronounces things. Whenever I try to delete him so that I can conserve more space on my phone I get the following error: it is impossible to delete the male siri enhanced quality voice for your language. From what I understand the voiceover siri male voice is a separate download from the male voice for actual Siri, so why doesn't it let me delete the Siri Male voice out of voiceover? I'm using US English if that helps.
Thanks

couple of hints maybe?
Hi. I agree sometimes he isn't the easiest to understand but for now he's better the the female. Maybe you can't delete it because you haven't downloadedit? Try saying yes you want to, then waiting awhile. I don't know how long that would take. Another question is are you sure you don't have it selected by accident? Not trying to say you don't know what you're doing. ;) hope that might help. In other words go with samantha or something then try to delte.
This happened to me to
Hi this happened to me to. What I had to do is to tell iOS that you want to delete him then do a two-finger scrub to get out of the default dialect screen, go back into default dialect and voiceOver should say "requires x megabytes download." Hope this helps!
still unable to delete
Hello,
Yes I've tried selecting both Samantha default and Samantha enhanced before deleteing the siri voice and still gives me the same error, I can remove other voices just fine just not the Siri Male for whatever reason.
Your language?
I believe iOS insists you keep one Siri enhanced voice of (the one you chos to use for Siri herself). If not, Siri would be unable to provide voice feedback to you. Is this the case in your situation?
Siri/voiceover
From what I understand and this was mentioned on a podcast recently The siri voice for voiceover is a separate download from the actual Siri voice and the podcaster commented that why do you have to download a separate Siri voice for voiceover when the enhanced Siri voice is already downloaded for Siri herself, so that leaves me to believe that I should be able to delete the enhanced Siri voice in voiceover.
Deleting Enhanced Siri-Voice...or not...
Hi All! - I have investigated this phenomenon and have talked to a few advanced users and AssistiveTech instructors.
• Starting point: enhanced Siri is selected as VoiceOver default voice.
• Now select another voice as the default voice and leave the voice selection menu.
• Now go back into the voice selection menu and move the VoiceOver focus to the enhanced siri voice again. VoiceOver will announce the size of the required download.
By implication, it is not necessary to manually delete the enhanced Siri voice as iOS seems to make the storage that the previously selected enhanced voice took up available as soon as it is no longer selected.
Does that make sense?
